The Vegas sportsbook I was in on the weekend had the Ducks at 12/1 to win the Cup next year. Thought about it, glad I kept my Benjamins in my wallet now.
In my opinion, the Ducks should have won that series against the Hawks. However, bringing in Bieksa for Beauchemin is a downgrade and I think we also saw that Mr. Andersen might not be the long term solution between the pipes.
Andersen might not be, but they have Gibson waiting too.In my opinion, the Ducks should have won that series against the Hawks. However, bringing in Bieksa for Beauchemin is a downgrade and I think we also saw that Mr. Andersen might not be the long term solution between the pipes.
The day they traded Jagr they were 8 pts out of a playoff spot. It's crazy to think that if the defence limits the number of shots Schneider has to save (they were 24th in SA) they may eke out a few more points? They had two guys last year with more than 40 points and one of them is now gone. Their depth chart at centre makes the Leafs look like the Penguins. Schneider was Vezina level good last season, and where did it get them?
I don't see it, not at all.

Also still plenty of FA's available and Jersey has plenty of cap space. Could see them signing someone like Weiss and him putting up 50 pts if he stays healthy.
I think their defence gives them a good chance to limit the shots against, and like I said Jagr's 42 point contribution can still be made up for via free agency or trade. They don't have Jagr anymore though, so how they did with him isn't the baseline here.
They seem more likely to me to finish last than to secure a playoff spot. All it would take is an average (or even slightly above) season from Schneider, or god forbid an injury.
“I disagree with the perception that he’s weaker on the defensive side of things. He showed me at the end of last year that he was managing the decisions on when to go, when to probe offensively, when to get back. I know he’s going to be a player that can be counted on in both ends. I think that Justin has Norris Trophy potential and I don’t think there are too many people who disagree with me in that regard… What Justin brings, everybody’s looking for, and we’re thankful we have him.”
didnt he also call Jeff Petry "white PK Subban"?
I know David Staples wrote a blog saying that he thought Petry has just as much game as PK Subban. As it turns out, the Habs have both PK and Petry while the Oil have Schultz and Andrej 'I did it all for the Glory of Love' Sekera.
So it was Oilers fans opening their mouths, then.I could have sworn that there was something from Oil brass or media (what's the difference in many cases) projecting Schultz to be as good or better than Erik Karlsson.
I can't find the link now so maybe it just some of the babble you hear from Oilers fans.
"This isn't my last contract, I want another one after this. Right now, I’m sitting here saying I won't be done. My teammates' wives support that and they know. When that time comes, then yeah I’ll be ready to retire.
"Right now, I’m fully confident that I can play out this contract and get another one after."
