FWIW, TSN (Mackenzie) has him at 9 right now. Can't say I've seen him play or knew his name prior to two minutes ago but a forward with that size, if he has any skill at all, is probably as serviceable NHLer.

I just looked at McKenzie's rankings and realized we had a miscommunication... my comments were about Crouse. Definitely wasn't super clear about that, so I apologize. And McKenzie actually has him even higher anyway it looks like, at #6. But there's no way I'd take him there.

Yeah I don't get the Crouse love. He's big. Great. He isn't producing worth a shit, though.

Didn't you see him cycling against those 5 foot 6 pimpled Germans? That will be great to have if we get a lead against a bunch of teenagers. Maybe it can be the 4th Mighty Ducks movie.

I know he's not big, but everytime I watch Travis Konecny, I like what I see. If he's still around when it's the Flames turn to pick, I hope Treliving nabs him.

I also like him. He has the tools to become everything you want in a second line player. Kessel-like shot release, too.

All crazy aside and speaking objectively, Columbus would be much better off trading their first round pick for a guy who's already developed. There's no reason they shouldn't have Stanley on the mind come next season, and having both the cap space and the assets to plug their holes this offseason they should be going for it.

There's a lot of merit to that idea. The Jackets have exactly three pressing needs, and two could potentially be filled by one guy. The guy they thought they were getting when they signed Horton.

1) Top six scorer who opens space for Johansen (Not Clarkson)
2) Veteran leadership - a guy who's been to the top of the mountain (Not Clarkson)
3) A more steady backup.

If they can get that with that first pick, I would be inclined to go for it.

I honestly hadn't heard much about him, but since he is Finnish I guarantee that Jarmo Kekeleinen knows everything there is to know about him. I saw one comparison to Mats Sundin. Size, Strength and Touch. Have to take that with a grain of salt because any big Scandanavian kid is going to be compared to Mats.

Hell, if he's like a Young Olli Jokinen, at this point that would help. Waffles and all.

And now I read the last page and see we were talking about Crouse. Oopsie.

I think for all concerned, the Jets and Kane need to part ways. I think he can bring back a pretty nice package (drat picks + a high end prospect).

I think this needs to be more of a good player for good player deal. Winnipeg needs to make the playoffs, more so maybe than any team in the race right now. They gotta get something to help them now.

Kane for Stajan?

/What the heck, I'll throw in Deryk Engelland as well.

I would bet the Jackets are calling. I would put Leopold and Johnson on the table.

Let him have the surgery, too. This place is cursed right now anyway. He'll need it sooner or later.
