Mogilny goes top 10 at worst if he wasn't still behind the Iron Curtain. Even a 5th was risky on a guy you weren't sure would ever be able to play in the US.

Sportsnet did a good piece on it too. Stats-wise he fell short of being a HOF guy, but I've always felt like he should get some type of special recognition for being the first to pull off the defection.

By 13 i dont think you see it much at all anymore. If a kids playing rep by peewee age (u13) parents arent even allowed in the room anymore

Those kids that you do see parents carrying bags for do seem pampered maybe the parents have an odd hockey gear smell fetish

You know those things that are a step up from dad tying your skates to until your fingers are strong enough?
It was wild. I didn't know him well enough to tease him mercilessly, but the drive was there.

That’s why I drove a truck with a tonneau cover during my boy’s playing days (or at least until he got his license and own car). No way that bag was gonna be in the same compartment as me.
