How do empty net goals work against goalies average?
They don't.

Save percentage is calculated based on shots against that would have gone in if the goalie did not stop it. Shots on an empty net do not count against the goalie.

Goals against average is calculated on how many goals a goalie gives up per 60 minutes of ice time. So, if the goalie is not on the ice when an empty netter is scored, it does not get calculated in the save percentage.

Goals of the year. Good choice for number one.

I hope whatever marketing person at the NHL decided to have players show up to special games in costume lives the remainder of their life with socks that are always a bit damp.

I dont know whether I have ever posted that I am not a huge fan of the outdoor games. I have a feeling about this one though, I think its going to be great. I think its going to capture the hearts and minds of casual fans around the world and create new long lasting fans. I'll be watching.

^43 is just grumpy, costumes are fun. Why have the player's actual clothes distract from the event? This way the focus is where it should be - on this great sport and game

watching the intro (as I am THAT invested)

surely Seattle has something better to offer than people throwing fish at each other?
just seems odd to look at a tourist thing where people look at it and go. "yup. that's a fish" and move on, an say "YES!!! that's our brand for everything!"

Were people able to catch the fish or did they just slip through their fingers like so many Steelers yesterday?

At no point before the Kraken began their expansion draft did I think of fish when I thought of Seattle. Crab, maybe. Coffee, heroin and computers, mostly.

Would have been better if they went way back and had the Kraken showing up in khakis and button down shirts with pocket protectors.

They can even dance.

The box score is interesting.

  • Reg Noble had 4 goals for the losing side.
  • Harry "Hatty" Hyland scored 5 times
  • Art Ross scored

Minors were 3 minutes, not 2 (never knew that)

And in the other match that day, Joe Malone had 5 goals as Les Canadiens defeated the Senators 7-4. Cy Dennehy scored 3 for the Sens. Tending goal for the Habs and letting in 4 goals was the mediocre Vezina, Georges.
