The dunk contest always been good. It had a few bad years but the dunks been good every year for the most part.

Everyone is just so obsessed with having stars in the dunk contest which is why they shit on it yearly because Lebron, Westbrook, & etc aren't in the contest

I've seen a lot of people who don't care about stars being in it criticize the dunk contest. a) Because for awhile there were too many props/gimmicks being used. b) There's a pretty limited amount of creativity that can go into it before the same types of dunks are used over and over again, which is a turn off for quite a few people. c) The commentary and judging process usually is too much about popularity and getting on someone's bandwagon rather than merit.

My only complaints are that the scoring system is beyond ridiculous. Zach Levine had the contest locked up before he completed his last dunk because the worst you can do is a 6. Also, had Antetokoumpo made his first dunk he would've had a 50 and then all of the dunks after that would have only been able to tie even though they were better dunks.

Also, I was not that impressed with the announcers. They made Levines dunks seem groundbreaking and creative and new and incredibly difficult. The behind the back dunk was done 7 years ago. John Wall did it in the all star game, JR Smith did it, Terrance Ross did a 360 around the back in a dunk contest, and Swaggy P did it in college.

Some people will never be happy. There's only so many dunks you can do. Levine was creative enough and he made the first 2 dunks on one try which is damn impressive.

If you're watching this contest expecting something you never seen before I would suggest you stop watching. It is very likely that you seen something identical or similar considering how long the contest been around.

The year Blake Griffin was in it was probably one of the worst. I didn't even watch and knew beyond all doubt months in advance he would win it.
