Etling, our starting QB had recent surgery on his back. He's struggled against Alabama and threw for less than 100 yards. He didn't look so good against Auburn or Florida either.

The backups ? They are not any better. LSU is also changing the offense under Matt Canada.

We are rebuilding under all new management....

:hope:

Michigan State's biggest problem is the defense. Our QB is not that big of a concern. We just aren't that good where it would make a big difference.

Not CFB, but when Tom Brady went down in game 1 for the season, Matt Cassel came in and the Patriots went 11-5 that year.

Cassel was traded to KC, a nice way for New England to say "Thank you" and reward him with a big paycheck. He led KC to the playoffs, but a close look at their record shows that they did not beat a single team with a winning record and had a very soft schedule. One and done. He never had a good year again.

So, yes, a run-of-the-mill quarterback can still take a good team a long way, but he doesn't have it to carry a weak team on his shoulders like Peyton Manning could.

Really wouldn't matter much for my team. We plug in another big name 3-star guy and go.

What drop-off? We're already on the bottom. No, but seriously, I have little to no expectations for any KU QB until proven otherwise right now.

I think everyone would like to think next man up or that their running game would be enough to not lose.

UW's schedule is soft enough on the front end to give their replacement a lot of room for growth with lower risks of failure, but no one can come close to what Browning is right now.

They would still battle for the Pac12 north, but any hope at all of a national playoff hunt...

How much worse than 6-6 could you possibly get with your Heisman like QB at the helm.
@GoldRusher

Seriously

Last time something similar happened we lost our starter and in came some converted DB named Pat White.
Heisman QB.... Heisman RB.. either way we will be kickin OU arse so..

Uh, yea we do. Please post your 2017 starting RB's yards from last season so we can all have a nice yuck or 10.

Bwahaha. Oklahoma has so much RB talent. Out top 3 on our depth chart would bump your starting RB.

If Baker Mayfield goes down on the first play of the first game, we'll go 10-2 which is what I'm predicting even if he stays healthy. We should lose at Ohio State but even if we don't lose that game we have a history of blowing a game every year and until that streak stops I'm betting on the streak. And, of course, we will still have Mike Stoops who is good for one loss by himself when the defense gives up nearly 50 points somewhere along the line. If Mayfield goes down in the middle of the season I'd expect a 9-3 season because the backup won't have a lot of time to get settled in.

Hell UVA is so good that we don't even have a number two on our depth chart, and our starters name looks like BANKRUPT. I believe this means that we would have to forfeit the rest of our games, since we wouldn't have enough players if Benkert got injured. So aN improvement from the projected 60-3 losses we are gonna be racking up.

We'd be starting a true freshman that I'm more excited about than Eason. Highly unlikely, but I really wouldn't be completely shocked if Jake Fromm won the starting job anyways.

Hell, Dimitri Flowers would be in your two deep. It's so cute when you think you can hang with the big boys.
