The university loses 10 Football schlarships in 2012, 8 in 2013, and 5 in 2014. There will be no television appearances in 2012, and no post season eligibility in 2012 or 2013.

Surprised about the no TV.

I'm surprised about the TV part, has that been a part of any other teams punishment thus far?

The "no television appearances" will hurt OSU a bit because recruits want exposure, but it may hurt their non B1G opponents worse, as they will miss out on some exposure for their team who usually gets none.

23 is basically a years worth of scholarships.

I wonder if they'll lose their conference share of tv revenue?

Yea definitely, didn't think about it that way. I'd be pissed if I was a fan of any other team and I couldn't watch the game because OSU had violations.

I think that opposing team still has local rights to televise the game, but usually the national exposure on say a Toledo or Akron is the key. Scouts, etc, watch every Ohio State game to see who they have, so they may catch a glimpse of an opponent.

It hurt a lot worse back in the day for SMU when only networks had TV, and film was not all over youtube and stuff. It will still hurt a little though.

Good point. It's actually a conference wide punishment. I wonder if future OOC opponents will scramble to find new opponents.

Hard core, more than I thought.

This does NOT bode well for UNC or Miami who did significantly worse stuff on a larger scale.

If you look at the accual value of improper benefits the Miami / OSU stuff is very similar. I have no idea what will happen for Miami, but I expect similar. Perhaps more schollys.
I would have never expected a TV ban for Miami, since they draw very well on TV...But now, who knows.

No offense, but I have great reservations about this website. No word from the four-letter or other media sources either make me very suspect.

Also, the wording of this sentence alone makes me think twice about believing this website.

"Two full years worth of games will be forfeit, contrary to the single year of games the University imposed on itself."

El Em Eh Oh.

Hilarious.

Doesn't seemed to be deserved, but at least the NCAA is cracking down.

Now if only they'd reload the shotgun and aim at Auburn...

Gotcha, makes sense.

Would like to see the B1G take away TV revenue from OSU, and make them pay for lost TV revenue for the league, if possible.

Yeah, it needs to be questioned. Why would in and ooc opponents be punished along with them?

Surprised about the no TV.

This might be the first reasonable (IMO) punishment for major infractions that the NCAA has handed down in awhile. No TV is a buzz kill to conference mates, but maybe the NCAA wants to send a message to school to help keep peers in line(?).

Edit: Didn't read the questions about source until after posting.

The fact that it seemed so reasonable is what made me first question it a bit, ha ha.

I have found NO other source on this. I think it is BS, driving traffic to the site.
