Well, I'd have no problem with the Pens trading Cooke, but that's not quite the same as suspending your own player.

The way I see it if a coach can scratch a player for poor play on the ice or waive a player because they are not playing up to the teams expectations why not.Not going to jump into snap judgements on Mario I am interested in how he deals with cooke.I am personally hoping he uses this as something productive and ut makes a statement that is productive toward his stance on dirty play and silences some of his critics in the process.

Cooke is an NHL caliber player no doubt, but he is in no way special or irreplaceable by a hundred other guys.

On the flip side of that I believe waiving cooke could be beneficial to the pens going into the playoffs.The last thing I want for my team going into the playoffs is a distraction or player that could be detrimental to my team going in to the playoffs.I would rather have A younger player with something to prove and a team owner that looks like a hero .If anything I think the positives that could provide would make the pens a stronger team.but that's just my opinion.

I am willing to give Mario the benefit of the doubt for now until I see what he does after this incident and in the off season.
No one should put with this crap and he should be buried in the minors until he proves he can play 20 games without pulling this type of shit. As mentioned earlier, he certainly does have some skill but he just doesn't think or doesn't care.

Cooke has the talent to succeed in the NHL without all this garbage - he doesn't have any respect for the game or its players. He's always been somebody to start shit and run away and hide - to any team he's been on, just ask the fans what they thought of him when he was on the team. What's he's doing in Pittsburgh is no different than what he did in Vancouver.

The Caps got rid of him so fast I never had a chance to know what a complete piece of garbage the guy is. But since he plays for a rival, I've had the chance to truly explore my hatred for him.

He does seem like a nice guy, and he seems like a family man and he has a charity, and he's a prankster in the locker room and seems to get along with the guys, but when he gets on the ice, it's like something goes off in his head and he transforms into a jerk and an idiot. It's a shame, really, given his talent.
