Oh ok. Right. Bylsma is dressing Cooke. Lemieux is only employing him...lol

As if that makes it any better...

I'm just saying it's not the owner's call. Regardless, I'm fairly certain Lemieux's already told Shero to start considering his options for getting rid of Cooke. I would be...

Lemieux stated in his letter to bettman that under his proposed system of discipline that his team would of been fined $600,000 and that "We all have to take responsibility if we are going to improve the game.'"

so while dressing one of the dirtest players in the league does look bad, i don't think lemieux is really being a hypocrite imo

This latest cheapshot by cooke is going to be the end of his penguins career imo and I think that if lemieux wants the league to take his proposal seriously, he should start by making sure cooke never plays in a penguins uniform again

I agree with this. I think Cooke's a good player and when he's playing hockey he makes the Penguins a better team. But when he pulls something like this, he hurts the team a lot. Unfortunately, he does this sort of thing a lot, and consequently hurts the team a lot. He's not worth his salary. Not even close, in my opinion.

Well that's what I was trying to get at. It seems like Mario will be called a hypocrite unless he fires or suspends Cooke himself. Has anyone EVER heard of an owner doing that? I've heard of it for off-ice or lockerroom behaviour, but never for things that happen on the ice.

Just so that nobody gets the wrong impression, I'm not condoning Cooke's actions or dirty play. I just don't agree with the "Mario = hypocrite" accusations.

Let's just say Mario has a pretty clear opportunity in the next day or so to make it very clear which side of the fence he is on.

Well, if Cooke gets a big suspension and Mario complains, I think I'll have to eat my words....

Just got back from the game and I hope and pray Cooke never plays another game in a Penguins uniform again. The Penguins need to act before the NHL does on this one. Sit him down for how many ever games they want, then add the league suspension on top of it.

This is your chance Mario, put your money where your mouth is and show you are serious for removing this garbage from the NHL.

Yes, the flyers traded Steve Downie despite the obvious fact we reallly wanted to keep him because of his potential when he does not lose his head.

The devils traded cormier who was one of our prized prospects due to his inability to keep his head as well also waived leblond after an on ice incident

I pretty much stated my overall opinion over on the the GDT, but without seeing the elbow yet I want him gone. I'm sick of it. He clearly hurt the team today, and it's not the first, second, third...well, it happens a lot. You have to look at his benefits vs. the cost (his idiocy and salary).

Well, I'd have no problem with the Pens trading Cooke, but that's not quite the same as suspending your own player.

WTF? Gosh. I just...what is it with hockey players and never giving up on a hit? It's a fast game, you're not always going to make contact, don't just stretch out your friggin' elbow and hope.

Cooke has the talent to succeed in the NHL without all this garbage - he doesn't have any respect for the game or its players. He's always been somebody to start shit and run away and hide - to any team he's been on, just ask the fans what they thought of him when he was on the team. What's he's doing in Pittsburgh is no different than what he did in Vancouver.

If I was the league, I would give him a large enough suspension to carry over to the regular season next year (but allow him to play in the playoffs, because when he does shit like he did today, that punishes the entire team). This way, the Pens can dump him in the offseason, and with the suspension hanging over his head, no team will want to pick him up (Burke won't even consider him).

I'll always remember Downie for scratching Clarkson during a fight.Downie got much more harsh suspensions than cooke

yeah....I remember that. lol Whatta bitch.

As far as the suspensions go........man, that was just a bi-product of being a Philadelphia Flyer at the time.

Unless it's a HUUUUGE suspension, there will be multiple teams that think they can revive him. Sadly. Like you said though, he's a great talent, with shit for brains.
