The new Mariners, the Dipoto Mariners, can hit but they can't pitch.

Segura SS
Smith RF
Cano 2B
Cruz DH
Seager 3B
Valencia/Vogelbach 1B
Zunino/Ruiz C
Martin CF
Ben Gamel/Mitch Haniger LF

That's actually a pretty impressive lineup assuming all of the above can hit around what they did last year. Even with the mild regression to the mean you'd expect after the years some of those guys are coming off of, it still looks like a formidable major league lineup.

Looks like the Mariners are looking at Doug Fister... I'd be good w/ him coming back home... He'd be a good #4 or #5 starter...

That'd be crazy, paying what 5 or 6 times as much to be a back end rotation pitcher as opposed to when he was the number 2.

What do you think it would cost? I don't get the 5x, 6x's more you're referring to... He's a shell of his former self...

Put him at #3 and then Paxton at #4... Still the same thing... Same payroll...

Fister would be worth taking a look at, or someone similar. Fister is probably going to be pretty cheap, I would guess around 5-6 mil. Players of the Fister quality seem to be in abundance.

One guy I was hoping to see the M's take a look at is Jason Hammel.

5-6 million? It's a nice thought but did you see what Andrew Cashner signed for? 1 year, $10 million. And he is coming off of a worse season than Fister had last year and does not have anything close to the career success that Fister has.

He was making 500k or so when we traded him. 5-7 times as much or more is what he would make even with just a one year prove it deal.

Fister won't get Cashner money. It would really surprise me if he did. I think Cashner gets value from still having an above average fastball and the hope that he still has the stuff for a good season, from an organization point of view. Fister has been on a steady decline and an increasing control problem the only thing he has going for him is a shitty free agent selection.

Thought you were talking about 5x - 6x's more than what he's currently making.... I was just looking for clarification before I replied because that would've been a helk of a lot of money... :D

Oh, no I was meaning what he was making with Seattle when he was the bonafide number 2 when they made that horrible, horrible trade.

It's nice acquisition but I'm not sure why Rz is commanding a 2yr/$11m contract. That seems about $5 million too high. JeDi may have been bidding against himself on this deal.

Agreed, although if he pitches like he did last year it's worth it.

Still think it should've been like 2 year $7M though lol.

Cecil's deal with Cards through everything out of whack for relievers and Dipoto wasn't willing to see if the market would drop back to normality.

I agree it is $5M too high but that is based on last years numbers. Relievers became expensive after this years playoff use of them.

T. Ross Padres and B. Revere Nationals are interesting buy low free agents for the Ms in my opinion. I know the roster is getting full but at the right price...

Yeah true. I am surprised he got 2 years, I would have preferred a 1 year deal for a player of his caliber. it will be interesting moving forward how much more money he spends and where he spends it. Already made a lot of moves
