Nebraska's first visit weekend netted 4 commits with two that could certainly end up that way in the near future (Greg Bell and Jeshaun Jones) but that isn't the only big weekend... this weekend could be just as big with some names in town that are exciting for Husker fans.... so who's visiting? I'm glad you asked...
Cam'ron Jones (4-Star, S) [Mansfield, TX] - Jones was once a UCLA commit but backed off of that pledge when Jim Mora Jr. was ousted... Nebraska is one of his favorite schools now and the Huskers have spent a lot of time making Jones a priority. Jones is not an early enrollee so he will be waiting until February to sign but getting him in this early shows that the Huskers have a lot of interest. Jones visited Baylor a week ago and only has one more OV set up (Ole Miss in January). Chance of committing on visit? 60%
Tate Wildeman (4-Star, DE) [Parker, CO] - Wildeman has been a long time Husker commit and his dad played with former Nebraska DC Bob Diaco at Iowa. However, Wildeman has remained steadfast in his commitment to Nebraska despite the firing of Riley and Diaco and was vocal about wanting Scott Frost to be the new head coach. This is a big visit to solidify a quality commit in a neighboring state.
Deontai Williams (3-Star, DB) [Jacksonville, FL] - Williams de-committed from Florida one week ago after the Florida coaching hire. He had a UCF offer, so he knows the staff and is very interested. Was a late add to the list and also could be an early enrollee so things could move very quickly as he would still like to sign on Wednesday. Chance of committing on visit? 85%
Marcus Riley (3-Star, ATH) [Tallahassee, FL] - Riley is a current Louisville commit and is visiting with a fellow commit (more on that later) to Nebraska... maybe. There have been some conflicting reports on whether or not Riley will actually be visiting this weekend but Nebraska likes him as a WR/RB hybrid in their offense, he could also play Corner if they really need him to. Chance of committing on visit? 20%
Dominick Watt (3-Star, WR) [Hollywood, FL] - Watt is another that I have heard conflicting reports on as far as visiting but I think he'll make it to campus. The three star WR boasts good speed and has offers to schools that like to utilize that speed on the outside. Watt is likely leaving the state of Florida regardless of where he goes so Nebraska could have a chance here, although he likely takes all of his visits and decides in February. Chance of committing on visit? 15%
Jordan Allen (3-Star, DE) JUCO [San Fransisco, CA] - No longer visiting
Will Honas (3-Star, LB) JUCO [Butler CC, KS] - Honas is the #1 ranked JUCO ILB in the country and plans to sign on Dec. 20th with the school of his choice. Currently, Honas has a top four of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas State and Ole Miss. Ole Miss doesn't seem like a real threat here but Iowa (where he visited last weekend) and Kansas State (where he was committed to out of HS) stand as the biggest challengers to Nebraska coming into the weekend. Getting the last shot could be a good thing. Regardless, Honas will visit and make a decision on Wednesday. Chance of committing on visit? 25%
Messiah Swinson (3-Star, TE) [Glen Head, NY] - Swinson is a prototypical stretch TE with the height and athletic ability to be a huge red zone target. Spread systems everyone want him and Nebraska's staff recruited him while they were at UCF as well. Currently he likes Missouri and ASU but Nebraska is right up there. The Huskers, having already added a tall TE under Frost, would like to get his commit and close out TE recruiting with three really capable TE recruits in the class. Chanc of committing on visit? 50%
Katerian Legrone (3-Star, TE) [Atlanta, GA] - Legrone is a current UCF commit and is an interesting offer. Nebraska already has Jurgens and McGriff on board as TEs so the offer to Legrone is a bit of a head scratcher to me especially if Swinson wants in. Could the Husker staff be looking at Jurgens on the defensive side of the ball so Legrone would be his replacement? I'm not sure, but this one will be interesting to watch because he really likes the UCF staff and already committed to them once but is there room in this class? We shall see.... Chance of committing on visit? 75%
Javian Hawkins (3-Star, RB) [Cocoa, FL] - Hawkins, the other Lousiville commit that's visiting, has break away speed and reminds me (and perhaps the Nebraska staff) of Killins at UCF with his ability to break away from defenders and deceptive strength between the tackles. Hawkins has been fairly bullish on his commitment to Louisville but he has agreed to take a visit to Nebraska so perhaps there's a shot here? Hawkins runs an electronically timed 4.36 forty, that's all you need to know about Nebraska's interest in him.
let me know if I missed any! Should be an interesting weekend!
