I see the US women's curling team conceded a 7 end against Great Britain. New Olympic record for one end in either mens or womens.

/I sure hope that wasn't a steal of 7

Geez, you'd think a Speedy Creek Special would spill at least a couple of British stones from the house.

/As always, it's the skip's fault.

Seriously, though... Kinda disappointed in Shaun White. I am not sure he had the best year leading up and may have gotten his spot on the team because he's Shaun White. Then he gets there and bails on one event when his spot on the roster could have gone to someone else. Then he goes and collapses in his best event final.

Really wasn't that much a collapse. He made two minor errors in a run he needed to be perfect. The 3 that won the medals all posted amazing scores.

I just went and watched. Miss after miss by the US. Great Britain didn't even have to really make any shots. Hell, I would have done better than the US just shooting straight down the middle as hard as I could.

You know what would really spice up the Olympics, surprise eliminations. Have a competition round where they think they are just placing, then randomly toss out the bottom two. Surprise!

That reminds me of this story, eloco...

Bjornar Haakensmoen was presented with more than five tons of Canadian maple syrup in Oslo Wednesday for his act of sportsmanship at the Olympics in February.

The Norwegian cross-country coach received the gift as a token of appreciation for handing a spare ski pole to Sara Renner after the Canadian skier broke hers midway through the team sprint event.

Renner and Canadian teammate Beckie Scott went on to win a silver medal while the Norwegians placed fourth.

That's cool. Jstew mentioned it, but pretty cool it was a Canadian coach that gave the guy a ski. Nice gesture!.

Yeah, I watched that. The best moments are not always the ones where someone wins.

A lot of props to the female snowboarder who went down so hard it broke her helmet. She got up and got herself to the finish.

Agreed.

I understand during the 5,000m and 10,000m speed skating races that the coaches holding the signs are helping their skaters with pacing and such, but what the hell do the signs they hold during the 500m race say?

"Go as fucking fast as you can!"

That sounds a lot like the "Win-in-hand" system that the NHL adopted for the playoffs this year!

That reminds me of the time my dad coached my little league baseball team.

He would lay down a bunch of signs at third base and if they ended with a hand motion to second base we were to steal second.

If they ended with him mimicking a bunt, we were to bunt.

No one ever caught on to our signs even though the opposing coaches/players were trying really, really hard. We could see them staring at my dad very closely with squinted eyes.

It never really mattered in the long run anyway. We finished 2-12.

This is honestly the best I have ever seen Jennifer Jones play. Her rink are running over some very strong contenders

Pretty nice tap back to score 1 by Jones - She was in big trouble and made a clutch shot to stop a steal of two for GBR.

Denny Morrison will skate for Canada in the men's 1000m as his teammate steps aside for him.
