Yeah, until something happens with Wade, Bosh, and LeBron, they can't afford anyone above the minimum. That's the first thing that has to get settled.

Then again, nothing technically happens until Jul 10, so I guess if Riley feels like he knows what those guys are gonna do, he can talk in theoretics with free agents.

I'm pretty sure Riley knows exactly how many $$$ he has to work with, otherwise he CAN'T work.

The key is to get the players he REALLY wants to probably take a discount.
If that fails, go with the plan B players.

Cleveland just agreed to a max deal with Kyrie Irving. A max deal....really?
They sort of have to. I'd ridicule the deal if it was a major market team but the Cavs need a 2nd tier star even if it means paying him a max contract and even if it means he is injury prone.

You can build around Irving and Wiggins. They just need a stretch 4 and a perimeter 2 and they have pieces to move around to maybe acquire some guys like that

Hawks appear to be all in on Deng. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in Atlanta. He is basically the same player as Demarre Carroll except that Deng is better in every way. They could plug him right in and they have the cash to throw at him.

Atlanta could easily challenge for the 2 seed out east

Aldridge reported that WADE/BOSH via their agents are not taking any massive paycuts. They are going to sign for considerably more than any of the rumored pay cut scenarios.. Henry Thomas called all the stories about them taking massive paycuts as complete B.S.

Yeah, I saw that. The problem is that most sources have agendas, so you never know who to believe.

Bosh and Wade just resigned. Should be announced in the next couple of days. Both getting about 11-12 million in the 1st year and then will jump up. Smart move by Heat.

Melo and Bulls had a nice visit but nothing really ro report. Not good news for us Bulls fans. Idea of playing with Gibson and Noah intrigued Melo but overall nothing excited coming from the Visit. Time for Plan B for the Bulls.

Source? That rumor was already shot down by their agent.

Agent Henry Thomas tells Sun Sentinel no truth to report of Bosh having already agreed to $11M for 2014-15 and Wade to $12 million.

I read that too.
I think there must be some type of merit to it, or at least in the ballpark.

Fact is, for the Heat to try to entice other FA here, they need to disclose to them the plan.
Once that plan is disclosed, with all the social media these days, we will soon know every teams intentions and plans to achieve them.

That sucks about gortat. I really was hoping Miami could pull that one off.

Welcome to the summer of players getting overpaid.

Unfortunately for the Heat, not everyone wants to come here at a discount.
He's a decent player to have, but not for that price tag.

I agree that is a slight overpay for Gortat. With there not being that many good centers in the game that can score, rebound, & block shots, him being overpaid to resign is understandable.

Maybe Gasol or Hill?
Let's raid the Lakers:yahoo:

As much as it pains me to say it, if the Heat get Gasol, they become the favorites to win it all next year, imo. He would be the perfect center for the Heat.

Hill would get the Heat closer, but Gasol would make them the favorites. The only concern would be that he has had injury issues over the last 2 seasons. But if he was healthy for the playoffs...........look out.

This MUST NOT happen, it would make me hate the Heat less too.

Livingston's deal is for the full mid-level exception at 3/$16 mil.
