Not a VET so just take it FWIW but i'd give him a couple crackers about 1/2 hour before the rice and i would only allow him to eat a couple spoonfuls of rice at a time until you are sure he can keep it down. We have also given dogs pedialyte or pediasure with peptide (unflavored if available) mixed in their bowl to help with dehydration.

Oh yeah i saw that. What an idiot! Hope he ends up with something that shits all over his living room!

First day working for the private sector in DMV and I don't know how you guys do it. First day was 9.5 hrs. THE FIRST DAY. One of the girls in my office is supposedly a high achiever and works 12 hrs a day. F*** THAT.

I didn't have any crackers but toasted him some plain white bread and worked up to chicken breast then his normal food. I did the same with her when she came home last night. They both seem to be back firing on all cylinders again. Too bad for Tomhusker, I am sure he wanted them dead. It is funny how hard core the response to him was though, especially from the Hokie faithful.

You, me, Evan, 757 all have Pits that I know of, and hokiehigh has a cain corso, so the same stigma and shit.

Don't sweat it. Quantity often gets bypassed by quality. Expect to work to complete jobs, and factor that into your compensation.

The private sector is all about being noticed. I found out quickly who the important people were and what those people needed. I put in a few crap weekends helping on bad projects no one wanted for those important people, and they haven't forgotten. Small things like learning their styles and quirks. I've found billable hours mean tons more than total work hours. I dress slightly better than coworkers (good enough to get noticed, but not stick out horribly), never call in sick (knock on wood, I don't get sick often, and didn't take a single sick day in my first 4.5 years), and volunteer to guena pig almost every software roll out (the old people are scared).

I've also made a ton of goodwill targetting skills that no one has, developing them myself and showing off to my bosses. Then when I'm ready to show off the next new skill, I volunteer to teach the entire company my old tricks. It's the best feeling to host a training session when my bosses can see that everyone is excited to learn the cool new thing, and I've already got something better waiting. It's a play action fake, and Danny Coale is wide open every freaking time.

Most importantly, I enjoy most of what I do, and I think that shows.

12 hour days aren't that uncommon. I probably average 10.5

It sucks.

We used to say that being an exempt employee meant that we were exempt from being paid for overtime hours. Additionally, as an exempt employee you're not limited to just 40 hours per week...you work until the work is either done or the pile on your desk is whittled down to something you can see over.

Just for fun, if you're an exempt employee, keep track of all the hours you work including hours you may put in at home, and then divide your paycheck (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) by the number of hours you actually worked.

For example, lets say you're paid a gross amount of $5000 per month. You actually worked 75 hours per week multiplied by 4.3 (52 weeks divided by 12 months equals 4.3333) which equals 322.5 total hours for that month. Divide your $5000 by 322.5 hours which equals a gross hourly pay of $15.50. Take out your taxes and you're left with about $12.00 per hour or less. Shocked?

So when Bud Foster and Co. met with the New Orleans Saints last year, were they giving a clinic on bounties?

Glad to hear they are both back to norm!

as far as the husker goes, imo he is just another brainwashed dumbass who prob has had little to no interaction with APBT and gets caught up in everything the media is telling him. Like i said before, i hope he ends up with something that shits all over his house!

Yeah -- I pulled six years in the Navy on board submarine SSN-767 ... 50% of the time, we were gone. Out of the remaining 50% of the time, I was standing duty (stuck on the boat 24/7) 25% of the time. The other 75% of that, I was getting worked like a dog 12 hours a day .. Met some great people, saw some great places ... bottom line though, fuck that .. Life's too short to work it all away, regardless of how good the money is. I could stroll up to NOVA and double my salary, but to hell with the cost of living, traffic, metro-lifestyle. I'm perfectly happy with my upper-middle class paycheck and 40 hour weeks. This place pays me for taking call. I've never worked in an IT shop that did that. Another little tidbit for you younger guys -- the grass isn't always greener and more money doesn't necessarily mean better. That's for sure.

EDIT: And treat public companies like they're the plague .. stay away from them. They care about two things: customer/clients giving them money and profits. Their employees are but an expense and a vehicle to serve their only two interests.

Just got back from the state semifinals in Richmond. Wow, I must say VCU's gym is in a great part of town. Can you detect the sarcasm in this post?

Ha I hate going there and I live in the Richmond area. A lot of the high school graduations happen there and it is a nightmare

There is a reason VCU Medical Center is a highly rated trauma hospital for stabs and gunshot wounds...

The only times I have spent in the Richmond area have been in the Chesterfield/Midlothian/Clover Hill areas. Quite a difference from West Broad Street.

Anyway, stood beside Motley from C'Burg. Man, he's tall. Of course when you're 5-10 like me that's not saying much. Also stood beside Trey Edmunds at the quarterfinals in Salem. Dude is a beast. His calves are bigger than my freaking head.
