I'm sure Pitt does this often. They don't own Heinz, so I'm guessing there is a cost to operating an event there.

FWIW Miami did this too for many years (apparently they were in Sunlife this year). I'm sure most or all schools that usually play in an NFL stadium move to a smaller, cheaper venue.

In my six years at Pitt they played at Heinz for all six, I believe. Nobody goes though so this may have been done to mix things up.

I like some of it but part of me wishes they'd just chill out for awhile. Like take a 2 year break. It'd be nice to walk around campus without having to dodge multiple construction zones. And that's ironic because they claim they want the campus to be "pedestrian friendly" yet 90% of the obstacles are construction related.


I'm confused on the transportation hub though. All buses drop off at Perry st? What's so complicated about going around the Drillfield?

I hear you about taking a break. Besides, with the unpredictability of the current economy, it might be a good time to hold off on expensive commitments.

That said, I also agree that some of this will be good. As for the buses, I'm not sure the better solution wouldn't be to get rid of parking around the drillfield if they're concerned about traffic and accidents there (which is probably valid).

FML. Things like this could have been us. Whether it would have been stadium upgrades, or other new facilities, recruiting the talent it takes to win titles, or paying for all that construction... we have officially installed the ceiling on our program courtesy of steger and weaver. Very disheartening to say the least.
