Hey guys, noticed there's no thread to discuss the ongoings of the AHL. The Doobster is a big fan of the WBS Pens, and would like a thread to discuss the ongoings of our favorite teams' farm systems and perhaps share insight on who we see as the stars of tomorrow. Anyways, hope you all contribute to this thread, really interested on your thoughts on this subject.

Well J.T Miller was sent down to Hartford the other night, tallied a goal and an assist and was the number one star of the game. Hartford has had an up and down year so far, but they'll turn it around.

The Doobster is a big JT Miller fan. Going into this season I thought he was better than Chris Kreider. So far Kreider is proving me wrong, but Miller is still young. One guy I would like to see get a shot in the NHL is Danny Kristo, probably the Rangers' most underrated prospect would you say? I think so. You don't hear them talk much about Danny Kristo, but he puts up good numbers.

Abbotsford Heat are off to a pretty nice start this season (still having trouble drawing much of a crowd to watch the team though).

I like Miller as well, but think Kreider is a bit better than him. Kreider can be a legit goal scorer in this league where as I see Miller more of a finese, nice two-way player for the third line.

I can't wait for Kristo to come up, that kid just has a nat for scoring and has a nice shot, can't wait till he makes the roster. Probably next season though.

Yeah, Heat have the best record in the league. The Doobster is very intrigued by this Chad Billins fellow.

Yeah, Kristo could turn out to be a good one.

THe Binghamton Sens have been on a tear. They've won 9 out of their last 10 led by coach Luke Richardson.

Former CHL player of the year Mike Hoffman (reminds me of Matt Cullen) has been leading the way on the scoresheet with 24 points in 19 games. Last year's playoff hero J-G Pageau has been outstanding since being demoted from the big club with 14 points in 10 games.

On the blueline first year pro Cody Ceci is playing well with 15 points in 19 games. 20 year-old Fredrik Claesson has been the best defensive player in the games I've watched. Skates well for a stay-at-home kind of guy and isn't afraid of getting physically involved.

All four of these guys has NHL potential, IMO.

Coach Richardson is proving to be an excellent teacher. One of the few bright spots in the organization this year is the play of the kids on the farm. Leading the East division with a really young team.

Yeah, the Doobster is always impressed by the Sens' farm system.

I don't have a favourite AHL team anymore(mine left town about 10 years ago) but I have a few favourite players that I like to keep an eye on. Some of you might know why.

The previously mentioned Mike Hoffman is among them. He was a late round draft pick in his 2nd year of eligibility. He's had a few games in the NHL but at 24 looks like he's almost ready to make it on a full-time basis.

Simon Despres has been up and down between Pittsburgh and WBS. I know he was called up earlier in the week but not sure if he's still up or not.

Tomas Jurco is having a much better 2nd season in Grand Rapids than the first. He's always had the skill but the question was if he'd be able to handle the physicality of the North American pro game. I know the Wings like to take their time with their prospects but I hope to see him in the NHL before long. I think the fans in Detroit would absolutely love him.

Nathan Beaulieu has spent most of the last couple season in the AHL but has had a few games in the NHL. He's an offensive defenseman that will have to work on his defensive game in order to make the NHL full-time. He's one of a few really good, young defenseman Montreal has playing in Hamilton that they can call up if necessary.

There's a few others I like to keep an eye on, like 2011 1st rounder Zack Phillips, but I would say those are the most notable ones.

Yeah man, glad to see Simon Despres back. Had really high hopes for him last year and even higher hopes going into this year. Too bad they sent him back down, but glad he's on the roster right now. Really like what he brings to the ice.

He has all the skills and the brains but he was a bit of a partier when he was here. Maybe a year at Mario's would be good for him.
