mean agreed, but I don't think you need to go THAT overboard on OL.
I don't feel it's going overboard myself. As I said the Seahawks need better results than they got from the players at LG, C and RG. That wasn't NFL starting play at those positions last season and the line is only as strong as the weakest link.
End of day I'd be happier with Booker and Egbuka
I won't hate having those players, matter of preference I guess. Booker just seems more of a gap blocker, Zabel excels at either and he's a better athlete which is why he grades out so well in zone blocking. Egbuka is more of what the Seahawks already have while Higgins is a classic X wide receiver, which is what is missing on the roster.

End of the day I want to see a serious commitment to upgrading the OL. Doesn't have to be Zabel (he's just my favorite), it could be Booker could be someone else. What I don't want to see is JS waiting until pick 50 or even later (Lord knows JS hasn't come close to taking IOL that early and the play and results show it) and settling for backup or developmental type and maybe take two of those at some point so he can claim he's addressed the problem, will really get me ticked off. It's doing the same shit and expecting different results, that's plum stupid.

I just have this feeling if we take Zabel (great athleticism, good ZBS fit granted, but he's a bit more finesse) he'll get pushed around at times and we'll struggle to just move a DL. Meanwhile watch someone like the Ravens take Booker and just mow down DLs.

 What?

He isn't a mauler but would never call him a finesse player.

For sure. He's plenty physical, plenty violent, but can do agile stuff and do it well. I'd love to see him anchor the interior of the line. He's going to be a quality OL player for some team, I'd be excited if that team is the Seahawks.

Erm, that was a terrible choice of words. I should've used versatile and followed that up with the fact that I don't think he'll be dominant at any one position. And I'd rather just have a dominant left guard.

Again guys, I'm perfectly fine with the pick... I just wont be ecstatic about it. I think there will be far better talent at 18...

Unless we trade up, I'm about 90% certain OL will NOT be the first pick..

I will happily eat crow next week if I'm wrong.

I'm more 50/ 50 on that. Heck JS hasn't even spent a 2nd on IOL in the past and won't surprise me if he just sticks to what he's done in the pass. Heard him say he believes in the process the Seahawks use for finding IOL. However IMO there has never been this amount of push back from the fan base demanding a improvement with the OL. So if he doesn't go OL with pick 18, then whatever he does with the OL it better work out.

I'm 60/40 he does go o-line. I do feel his seat is hot and if they miss the playoffs and the line is hideous he might be out the door.

If he drafts elsewhere than the 2nd rounder both picks needs to be o-line.

I'd be fine with an OL in the 2nd and the 3rd. I think Haynes should start, I think Olu could... if we take an OL in round 1 it should be a trade up to take Membou. I don't want Zabel at 18. I think it's an overdraft at that point. Trade back and take him at 27 or something.

Membou be great but would be costly to move up. By pick 50 don't feel there will be starter quality available, for sure no plug and play type. I don't get the fretting about picking Zabel a few picks early and moving back could mean he's off the board. Zabel is plug and play at left guard and about as safe a pick as one could make and would be a rock for the interior of the line. Feel he brings a lot of upside as well. Perfect fit for new blocking scheme also.

I'm just not thrilled with him at 18... but perhaps I'm playing the value game too hard.

DAMMIT WILL THE DRAFT JUST BE HERE ALREADY!?

Its not exciting but its what the team needs and will make everyone else on offense better..
Just imagine walker running free all day long.

I'm not a fan of reaching but the exception I make is for an o-line guy that come right in and start. This league is mostly riddled with avg to below avg lines and then our line. I don't mind dropping back for certain positions but o-line I feel if the guy is on the board you have to take him.
