Giants haven't done many high ticket buys, it really hasn't been their style. And many haven't worked out.

Zito and Rowand for starters.

Even Pagan didn't really work out well.

And yet through all that...they still somehow managed to win 3 titles in 6 yrs.

Some of it has been dumb luck. hitting over .400 on short fly balls in the WS is dumb luck.

Guys like Burrell, Huff, and Rentawreck magically having one last good year after being beyond awful for multiple years is simply luck.

Once year Bumgarner freaking just willed them to it. Flat out did it on his own. He threw more innings than the rest of the SPs combined...just think about that for a second...lol.

They also built their pen for years with immense flexibility. Bochy was doing the Francona basically before Francona this year.
