- Edinson Volquez to the Marlins 2/22.

- Brewers sign former MLB OF (and most recently of Korea) Eric Thames for 3/16 (including 1 mil buyout after year 1). Thames also cannot be tendered and will be a FA after his deal expires.

- Brewers DFA 1B Chris Carter. Indians anyone?

I saw Thames sign that contract. I thought he was out of baseball honestly. Cespedes back to the Mutts

Chris Carter will get a job but I think somebody will radically overpay for those stats.

Jay and Almora is a pretty nice platoon in CF.

A's sign Matt Joyce to 2 years, $11M. He hit .242/.403/.463 (131 OPS+) in 293 PA. 251 of those plate appearances were against righties. He has a career .574 OPS against lefties.

Cecil was very good in 2013-15. Last year's ERA is a bit deceptive, his peripherals were still quite good (11.1 K/9, 2.00 BB/9, 2.87 xFIP).

Carter in 2016: .222/.321/.499, 114 OPS+

They both have a career OPS+ of 112.

I'm all for criticizing Beane for his recent moves, but $5.5M per year for Joyce isn't much incentive to do so. Especially when the A's OF was godawful in 2016.

I'll never forget the heroic postseason efforts of Carrasco and Salazar. Or how Bauer's Schilling-esque effort after the drone injury. Surely that drone will be in the HOF someday.
