This makes a lot of sense to me. Getzlaf & Kesler down the middle would be kind of scary. Plus Kesler isn't a rental. The Ducks have 2 first round picks in 2014. They have forwards like Etem & Rackell & defenseman in Vatanen who was just recalled & Sbisa they can trade. They're going to do something because they've unloaded some salary.

This game should be a blowout. I mean this Isles lineup is so bad. Nielsen is back, but the D is without MacDonald & Anders Nilsson is starting in goal. Don't get me wrong I like Okposo & think both Nelson & Strome have bright futures, but the Jets should win this game easily. Heck the Isles gave up 4 goals in the 3rd period to FLORIDA in their last game. They turned a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd to a 5-3 loss. You just can't get more PATHETIC than that.

I think Gillis should consider dealing Kesler to the Ducks. They have a nice group of young players & prospects to choose from. It's Teemu's final year. They're definitely going for it.

Conflicting reports on the Ducks & Vanek. Apparently Kevin Weekes says they're in on him, but RDS says they're not.

Some Isles fans think it's going to be Boston at the end of the day. If Boston is talking about Vanek why not Pittsburgh?

I've seen some reports that the Pens are in on Vanek, Shero has said though that he isn't keen on top flight rentals this year, though.

I'd take him just to keep him away from Boston. Vanek has a history of killing Pittsburgh

Vanek would probably accept a pay cut to stay in Pittsburgh. He said earlier in the year he wants to win. Well if Pittsburgh doesn't have enough talent for him nobody does.

Even with a pay cut I don't think they would have the room to keep him beyond this season/post-season. Stranger things have happened, though.

He'd be a great candidate for a top six spot on their roster for the stretch run. The powerplay would be lethal. What they're lacking the most, IMO is a right handed shot.
