This the top 10 ranked 2015 class to date. Way to early to actually matter, but check out the scholarship offers reported. 6 of the top 10 have offered over 100 kids. Tenn will top 200 by the end of March. That is amazing. Imagine if all 200 called the same day and accepted.

1. A&M - 64
2. LSU - 98
3. Bama- 145
4. FSU - 143
5. WV - 120
6. MissState - 173
7. Texas - 65
8. Tenn - 197
9. Clemson - 153
10. Georgia - 87

You'll never get the sale if you don't ask for it.

It is a bit crazy. How can you have 200 offers out for 20 spots? Basically, they are mostly BS and unreliable.

What would happen to Auburn if all 17 WRs accepted the offer?

Have we offered 17 WRs? I guess then you would have some really skinny lineman on the scout team.

It's obvious what would happen. Auburn, like every other team, would stop accepting verbal offers when the number of commits equals the number that the team wanted.

... and later if a 5 star player offers to commit, they would pull the offer from one of the others that had previously committed.

And yet not everyone of those players commits to those schools. Do you expect them to only offer to 25 to 30 kids every year?

I expect Universities to honor their commitments. How can you expect kids to honor their word, if adults can not. By the way, it is 150-200 offers. It is a bit out of control.

First come first serve I guess. But with that number I am sure an offer or a hundred could be taken off the table.

An offer is just that an offer. Nothing is legal or for that matter concrete until an LOI is signed and faxed. Whether the team pulls an offer for academic reasons, kid gets in trouble, or someone better shows up is nothing new. It has happened for over 20 years. Teams have to offer as many kids as they can considering most kids get multiple on top of multiple offers.

Codaxx, nobody's lying to these kids. What the coaches are saying is "hey, we want you to come to our school. But we're talking to other guys too and we only have X number of scholarships for your position. We hope you pick us but we can only take so many [fill in the position]". The kid knows up front there is a chance if he waits too long the school might not have a scholarship available for him. That's not lying. It is telling the truth. On the other hand, the kid can tell a coach "I've got got X offers from other schools but I would consider you too if you are interested". It's a two-way street.

Or the 230 lbs. kid who can bench press 350 lbs and run a 4.4 40 can tell the coaches to stop bugging him because he would prefer to not play football and instead pay his own way through school. That way he won't be a "slave" or "exploited by The Man" while his parents pay out the ass for his education and he gets to take out student loans that will take years to repay.

Don't the academic institutions do the same thing with non-athletic scholarships?

I remember getting offered partial schollies from three or four colleges, but none of it was legally binding. I eventually took the one that offered the best overall package, and assumed that the others simply gave their money to someone else that they had made offers to.

Those poor schools they probably had the band waiting for your entrance on the first day of school only to be disappointed when you didn't show. I didn't think you were capable of such rudeness and cruelty.

Reasons why offers should be in writing and good for 30 days. Also why athletes should be able to sign LOIs at anytime. That would protect both parties. Offer is valid for 30 days, if you dont sign the LOI by than you have no offer. I do believe some coaches are lying and pull offers if better players come along.

Isn't that more of an indictment against Tennessee? They have to offer to everyone and their brother just to field a team, I guess. :noidea:
