mariners have a lot of.....short stops.....so i expect them to take...... outfield , and pitchers..this time in draft
adding to last years draft would be the first thing ..to do..plus they still have

Noelvi Marte.........ss.at azl

added to this draft class..and next..that is 2B,3B and 1 outfield...they may take a ss..maybe lower...but outfield.is prob what i would do..and always pitching

my guess is in the new system..is that..any high school kids takin in the draft will be working out in arizona..azl
and going to a community collage..for 2 years at the same time

but any high school guys would be projected..in the two years away draft as well..as far as moving up in the system

that said..with no rookie league..maybe they should go down to 20 picks in the draft..or 15..everyone else would be a free agent

headlining the list for the Mariners is 3B Starlin Aguilar from the Dominican Republic, expected to sign for around $1.5M, or about 30% of the Mariners’ bonus pool. Aguilar, who trained with the recently deceased legendary trainer Rudy Santín, has been described as “Baby Devers,” a reference to Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers. Like Devers, Aguilar projects to third base with a stockier, powerful build, and is also a left-handed hitter with good barrel control who can make contact to all fields.

The Mariners have a history of recruiting heavily out of Venezuela and that won’t change this year, as they’re connected to three higher-profile Venezuelan prospects. OF Gabriel González is strong for his age, already close to 200 pounds and six feet, making an outfield corner his likely landing spot. “El Gonzo” might remind some Mariners fans of Noelvi Marte, standing tall in the right-handed batter’s box with a noticeable leg kick. He’s aggressive at the plate and swings to do damage.

Also coming out of Venezuela is OF Luis Bolivar. A true center fielder with 70 grade speed and a strong arm, “El Boli” is long and lean with present strength and room to add more. Despite a lighter frame, Bolivar shows some promising pop from the right side, at least:

LHP Juan Pinto is yet another Venezuelan prospect connected to the Mariners. Unlike fellow Venezuelan lefty Brayan Perez, Pinto is a tall drink of water at 6’3”, with a frame that looks like it will add muscle and strength (and a good thing, since he currently weighs about as many pounds as he has miles on his fastball). Pinto’s second pitch is a curveball praised for its depth that projects to be a swing-and-miss pitch. He also, and this is extremely scientific analysis,

sense..there is that change with international guys we will be monitoring that next month...seems they are on

Starlin Aguilar .........1B/3B...he has the look of a 1B..and he is L/L...i would not wait more than a couple ..seconds ...before putting him at 1B...lolol
Gabriel González ......OF......prob corner outfield...Rf..i would put him
Luis Bolivar...........Cf........that is clear he is a center field guy..needs a better arm from...cf but he is only 17..there is time

they could still use a catcher..and 1 more infield guy..they usually go after shortstops then move them around the infield to see where they fit best

for example..this guy..is already dsl..but could end up at 2B..or3B...not sayin he will just for example

Greg Johns

@GregJohnsMLB

In the most 2020 of timing ... some personal news. Now that I finally got my Twitter back after 6 weeks of being hacked, I can report that I'm retiring after 41 years in the sports writing biz next week. Thanks to all for reading and following all these years! It's been awesome!
