Gibbs did it. Three highly drafted rookies have to be better than what trotted out there this year.

Right but that was what, 30 years ago?

The nfl has changed drastically correct?

College teams were still running the option.
While still very young Bostic was a 2nd year player in Gibbs first year.

Some teams were still running (wishbone) then but many were not.

poor year for o/line in FA , the draft is the ticket
Let's not be too quick to dismiss any of our current offensive tackles, let's see if any of them can be converted to OG first.

You can't watch with your heart and hope when what's actually there comes from using your head and eyes.
I think everyone wanted to speak ot into existence. In the end...he isn't the guy.

I still like and support Sam howell.

I still reserve judgement on Howell until the oline is fixed.

I am not sure he’s a #1, but I’m not sure he isnt a good starter in the league either.

The playcalling didnt help him. The running game was non existent, the oline was historically bad, and the coaching staff was a lame duck.

Yeah if wishful thinking was indeed a thing, there probably wouldn't have been a stronger test of its power than how much Washington fans wanted to will him into what they envisioned.

I like Howell too, and he must be kept (Brissett too) and made a starter next year)

I think that Howell is indeed a starter in this league. where I seem to run into trouble with some posters is in ranking him a 16-22 range starter.

Nope send Sam away .

You can’t take a number 2 pick and not have him as a starter. Bring in a vet at qb .

No way are you going to watch 17 more games with Sam if he performs like he did the last 8 games

. And if he becomes the franchise qb then you wasted number 2 overall .

Either you have faith in the guy you select or you don’t . You don’t draft projects at number 2 overall you pick HOF ers

Start Howell week 1 with Maye or Jayden on the roster. Not mad at it. Not sure it's realistic, all things considered.

Ideally you would want a place holder that can be a mid-level QB so the fan base is not calling for the rookie to start if he is not ready.

Brissett would be perfect. I just think he's gonna have better options in FA.

If he isn’t ready don’t draft him , number 2 overall has to be the day one starter you have to be able to beat out the latest placeholder qb if you are number 2 overall or the red flags will blow up

A few things...

You absolutely can sit a #2-QB pick in a draft! Where in the rulebook of life standards do you find that? In fact, because of all of the hope "to get it right" surrounding the new ownership group perhaps one of the things that they re-introduce into the copycat league is doing away with that played-out "sink or swim" BS surrounding QBs.

They have a vet or rather had one in Brissett.

No one mentioned playing him for 17 games, there's a trade deadline that goes into effect on October 31, 2024, and that's at least 7-8 games into the season.

Hope he plays damned well creating a higher demand for his services. You select the #2 on his floor and his ceiling, although you disagree, there are at least 4 QBs in this draft who have floors somewhere between Howell's midline and his ceiling.

Hahahahaha... you religious types kill me! :pound: :D !!! With all due respect to those who are religiously inclined, "faith" doesn't move mountains" In this instance, proper planning, preparation, and patience all yield far better results! Btw: you don't pick HOFers, you groom them!!

Start Howell week 1 with Maye or Jayden on the roster. Not mad at it. Not sure it's realistic, all things considered.
It serves two purposes...

1. It allows time for proper preparation of the rookie. He gets time to know the playbook from front to back and work on a few things that he needs to improve upon. (footwork, release, etc.) He also gets to see the starter during live games (the trade deadline is October 3st1= 7 games) Understand how games are called in the NFL by listening in on game days. Perhaps most importantly, it points out the success that patience brings in opposition to that old "sink or swim" BS (Perhaps it becomes a trend)

2. It hopefully, increases Howell's trade value! I'd certainly be pulling for him to play well before I benched him in favor of the re-signed Brissett.
