See the movie> "We were soldiers"??????
Need another about cereal: "We were children"
as kids we loved the shit... but that's really what it is... Parents should know better, but when we were growing up there was a black hole about nutrition. Even now there are gaps because everyone is so willing to buy (aka believe) anything they are told. We have more understanding, then believe nonsense and buy a newer form of shit.

Cereal is healthy, just read the front cover. Take real food, strip out all the nutrition, add sugar, then.... wait for it... grind up a vitamin pill and stir it in with some extra sugar... Does the body even know what to do with the ground up vitamin powder? Doesn't matter because it's in the box.

Sorry for hijacking your thread YR....

I got this one!!!!!

Cap'n Crunch!

Believe it or not, I also loved Grape Nuts. I bet most of you have not even tried them.....
Grape Nuts are legendary, but just not as cereal (though it's the only one here true to the name "cereal"). It's famous for pudding and now I see it as a flavor of ice cream.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Playing street hockey every summer at Hood Park, which was sort of a town sponsored summer camp.

Neighborhood wide games like hide and seek, very different than the indoor version where when caught you could out run the seeker back to home and still be alive.

We played kick the can like the seeker found you and you could get to the can before him he was still it, only exception was my little sister we acted like we ran as fast as we could but would let her kick the can.

Boat yards with my dad.

The smell of grease, oil, fish guts, fiberglass resin and the cold north Atlantic all in one still make me think of him.

Working summer camp bfor the Superbowl Champion Baltimore Colts, meeting Bubba Smith and having him invite me to an end of camp dinner, where he handed me an NFL ball with everyone on the team autograph!

Bubba was hard to not love.
I have met a lot of sports personalities and few are the same when the camera is not rolling.
Camera on or off, Bubba was a loveable guy.
The fact that he even noticed that this kid (me) was working hard and recognized me for it was unbelievable - except for him.
By the way, nobody got in that locker room past the kid at the door!

Wednesday Sub-Question of the Day

Anyone think that the reason the BB has not resigned Stephon Gilmore to a contract extension is because he's already got a trade in place??

There is smoke there but you may have the wrong fire... It could be they are active shopping him, but have nothing firm yet.

If so it must be part of a package to move up, not sure that is wise IMO. I feel a lot of these QBs are a bit overhyped

Do you think in your lifetime a third political power will come to power in the US? This is to say be a legitimate contender to the Dems and Reps.

I do not see it happening, although I think it's critical it does.

150 years ago Whigs still existed and the Republican party was still seem as new. I tend to agree with the status quo somehow staying put despite a need for true change... The biggest issue is the divide on what constitutes that true change. Tea party has one perspective, and the more socialist liberals have the far opposite. Then those who could foster the change in the middle are too chicken shit and busy themselves protecting their careers.
