Just Pinch Hitting - Question of the day: What is you favorite throw away line from a song?

This would be a line that isn't central to the meaning of the song or part of a chorus.

My answer: From Lost in a Supermarket by the clash - "I wasn't born so much as I fell out"

You knew his mom or your mom knew his mom and they behaved alike?
It was a joke...
I once dated a woman (briefly) that had had too many kids.
Her play ground was... more of an abandoned amusement park.

My take on that phrase is "on my own from day 1" but the phrase itself is just so graphic. I always wondered how many people actually heard the lyric vs just a random meaningless line.

I've always liked the Boss but never compulsive enough to be considered a fan. I went to a concert in the early aughts and could swear I only knew 3 or 4 songs.

IMO his earlier stuff was much better more raw and edgy

Good line, but only half credit since it's not a throw away (part of the chorus)....

It's true but the poppier stuff beat most other pop. That Born in The USA album is as you describe but not a sellout to pop the way a lot of artists do it.

Yeah it was a sell out and a lot more pop, but the masses loved it, me not so much. Now Nebraska was later in his career and that hit home with me
for sure.

I have been remiss of late but I was forced to take some time off, that or the state would take my unused leave. We are winding down with this off season question of the day so wanted to throw an idea or two out.

Next off season I am considering two or three different ideas.

1. The off season history lesson. For people that want to participate I will assign a random year in history to one poster a day. That poster will do some research and provide us events that occured that year. Copy and past okay.

2. The continuing story. I will start a story and the following day another poster will continue on with the story. Each day a different poster adds their input.

3. Stick with question of the day.

Name a place you never want to visit.

New York City or any major city for that matter.
