No posts since last week? This is certainly a thread worthy of the team with the best record in baseball right now.

We tried. Just not enough action. Let's change that!

I have been posting on other teams pages in the series threads when Oakland is playing.

Let's get back to our own threads.

Starting now.

Best record in baseball right now. On pace for exactly 100 wins this season.

I'm actually surprised we are still on top after how bad of a stretch we had there for a week or two. This team is looking phenomenal.

Based on where we are now, what moves, if any do you see BB making? The only 2 things I see would be an upgrade at 2nd (with a bat) or a bonafide SP. It will depend on the options out there. BB will not mortgage the future, even if we are 1 - 2 key components away. :gaah:

Losing 10-1 in the 8th.

Let's hope my first day on this board is an anomaly. I would hate to have to leave this site just for jinxing it.

For a game only in late June I was far too stressed on this one.

Man, what a roller coaster. Our ace gives up 5 and is shaky in all 5 of his innings pitched.

Doolittle blows a save, something that isn't common since he was handed closer role. We burn through the bullpen, and low and behold are forced to rely on Johnson.... Who comes in and pitches a solid (sorta shaky actually) 2.1 innings of shutout ball. Only to have the tying and winning runs on base with Francis coming in and closing down the Miami freaking Marlins in the 14th.

Fantastic win and clinching series performance here Oakland.

Props, well done.

Let's get the sweep tomorrow with Kaz on the mound.

Could still use some help at 2B, but at least Lowrie's finally hitting.

I'm looking at Chavez having an awesome performance tonight.

And Baltimore is playing well vs LAA

I think A's and LAA both win tonight. Needed that one last night doggone it.

Oakland has 23 straight games vs teams under .500

Let's GO Oakland!

LAAAAAAAAAAAAAA is really surprising me. That said, this is the point in the schedule we need to put some distance between us. Easier said than done...

A's already have a higher run differential (+164) than last year (+142).

Not good! I still think the A's rotation is going to win in the end but this is too close for comfort.

Yikes.....Oakland's offense is missing Cespedes big time. Sure, Lester was a solid pickup and all....but you really don't know what you got till it's gone.

If this score holds, Oakland will be 7-10 since trading away Cespedes.

and the Angels have moved into 1st place..

There will still be ten games left that the A's and the Angels will play head to head. If the A's want to lay claim to the division title then going 7-3 in those matches might be the best way to put some distance between them & the Halos.

I still think their rotation is going to win the division for them in the end. This sweep was ill-timed for sure.

Cespedes has a 93 OPS+ with the Red Sox. Cespedes is a fine player and I'm glad the Sox got him in return for Lester and the A's outfield clearly got a bit worse, but he's not that good of a hitter. I really don't get the fascination with his offense. also, there's a lot of factors in the A's struggling this month, such as Jaso, Moss and Norris struggling. Kazmir and Gray are having rough months as well. And Jed Lowrie, who finally looked to be turning it around this year, just hit the DL a few days ago.

All of that is true and plays into some of the A's struggles for sure...but it seems he was seeing much better pitches with Oakland for some reason. I'm not so sure who will go on to win the AL west at this point either. Billy Beane said he did that deal to win the division, to not be a wild card team, and also to put the Tigers on notice. (but Detroit equalized that deal by getting David Price)....His kneejerk trade may come back to bite them in the butt. Pitching is key, but you gotta put runs on the board no matter what. (I know all about that being a Mets fan) Who btw, are the A's next opponent this Tuesday & Wednesday in Oakland....so I'm sure the A's will right their ship for now during that series.
