Tylor Megill made his first rehab start for Double-A Binghamton. He pitched 3 2/3rd innings allowing two runs and three hits while striking out five. He did not issue any walks, but did allow a solo home run. Megill threw 53 pitches.

One thing this series has shown me is we could desperately use another big bat if we plan on taking these guys in the playoffs. Looking at the league leaders and a guy that caught my eye was JD Martinez. Proven playoff performer, still has a high average and OPS, expiring contract and as of now the Sox are out of the playoff picture. Now plenty of things can still happen, who knows if he'd even be available but man would our lineup look great with him in it.

Splitting a cross country series against the best team in baseball, you take that every time.

Mets now own the best record in the NL. (37-19)
They found a way to win it 5-4 in 10....and got the 2-2 split.

New York, which has lost only two of its first 17 series this season, improved to 5-0 in extra-inning games while the Dodgers dropped to 0-4.

Looking ahead...just a bit.

As of now it looks like the Mets are lined up to face Thor while in Anaheim for the final game of this current road trip next Sunday against the Angels...which will also be televised on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

Carrasco vs Syndergaard.
Should be a good one.

Well so far it's been the Cookie & Escobar show tonight.
Mets lead it 7-2 heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Cookie went 7 solid...allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits, struck out 10, and walked none....on 105 pitches.
Esco has 4 rbi...from his 2 run single in the 1st....and 2 run HR in the 8th.

Ummm.....the Mets BP made this more interesting than it needed to be in the bottom of the 8th.

J-Rod struck out his 1st batter...then gave up a single & a walk.
Drew Smith relieved him...got a fly all ball out...then allowed a 3 run HR.

It's now 7-5 Mets...heading to the 9th.
Too much unnecessary drama.

Wow....have a day, Esco.

With 2 outs..his 2 run triple gives him 2 more rbi (6 for the game)...making it a working class 9-5 Mets lead in the 9th.

edit:
And now McNeil joins the party with an rbi double.....then Nido followed with an rbi single.

11-5 Mets.
