Game 2 Final:
Mets 1 - Braves 0
For the Double Header Split.

The Wrap/Recap....

The Box....

The Pics....

Trainer's Room....

Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (right forearm) threw again, one day after his first side session since going on the injured list July 18. Luis Rojas said deGrom would likely throw another side soon. RHP Carlos Carrasco (right hamstring), who pitched three scoreless innings Sunday for Triple-A Syracuse, could make his Mets debut this weekend.

Up Next....

Braves RHP Charlie Morton (9-3, 3.65 ERA) will look to win his fifth straight decision in the third game of the five-game series Tuesday night. The Mets have not yet decided on a starter.

10-1 Atlanta now...only the 4th inning.
He just gave up a GS.

At this point just may as well leave him out there until his arm falls off...and take one for the team and also to save the pen for tomorrow and Thursday.

Also...Hopefully the Nats won't choke again tonight in Philly like they did yesterday.

Maybe we could/should change Yennsy Diaz' duties to also be a spot starter for the time being.
I've had enough of Jared Eickhoff after his handful of starts, which have been underwhelming, pathetic, mediocre and horrible.

I know it's only been a small sample size, but I'd really be in favor of Brandon Drury getting some starts and more AB's.
He always has good productive at bats when given the opportunity, plus he plays 3B and both OF corner spots.

Eickhoff STINKS

Thank god we have Carrasco debuting on Friday.
Have they made it official?
I haven't seen anything other than he could start this weekend against Cincy, but not specifically on which day.
But yeah...the staff needs reinforcements in a hurry. He'd be more than welcome.
I just hope he's effective and sticks around this time.

Final:
Braves 12 - Mets 5
It got ugly early...and often.
Mets never had a chance in this one.

Silver linings: Brandon Drury & Jeff McNeil.....oh and the Phillies also lost....lol

Up Next..
.
(The Mets' 100th game of the season)

Mets rookie RHP Tylor Megill (1-0, 2.10) will start on Wednesday. He has allowed one run or fewer four times in six outings, tied with Jim McAndrew (1968) for the most by a pitcher through his first six starts for NY.
He'll face Atlanta LHP Max Fried (7-6, 4.46 ERA) who has recorded a decision in each of his last 11 starts (6-5), the longest streak by a Braves pitcher since Mike Foltynewicz earned 11 straight decisions in 2017.

Well....at least the Mets scored one run in the 3rd...but they also left the bases loaded.
Really had a nice shot to break it open. Davis K'd on a ball in the dirt for the 3rd out.

Not sure who will still be on the roster in the coming days.....but I have a feeling it might not be Davis +/or Conforto.
Just sayin.

This team is still in serious need for consistent run production.

1-0 Mets after 3.
Megill pulled a deGrom by hitting a single and scoring on McNeil's 2out rbi knock.

Edit:
Megill just tossed a 1-2-3 hitless frame in the 4th.

LGM!

Megill gets thru 5 scoreless innings.

C'mon, fellas....for crying out loud, please put up a few more runs for the guy here.....Geeez.

One run ain't gonna cut it.

1-0 Mets ...mid 5th.

edit:

Ughhh...now it's a tie game....
On his 94th pitch, Megill surrenders a 1 out homer in the 6th....
Which prompts a call for Seth Lugo.

edit...
Lugo threw only 3 pitches...and got the other 2 outs.

1-1...mid 6th.
