LGM!
Gotta have a solid outing from Cookie tonight.
Offense also must step up.
Also of note...Mets haven't done too well in nationally televised games recently.
edit:
And while typing that ^
Former Met, Justin Turner just went deep to make it 2-0 LA in the top of the 1st.
So looks like it'll be more fun times....smh.
Mets have had a few good scoring chances earlier, but are settling for the bare minimum runs allowed.
JD Davis already has the hat trick, and is working on a sombrero.
Cookie lasted only 2 innings. Wonder if he lands back on the IL.
Jake Reed went 3 scoreless.
Edit:
It's now 9-2.
Rojas shrugged.
Probably already preparing his lame post game excuses, cliches & platitudes.
Not only is the offense reverting back into an extended funk...but the pitching continues to be subpar.
These losses piling up will also eventually kill any chance for a wild card.
After tonight's game...there will only be 45 left in the regular season.
Could still be enough time this season to turn things around, though right now, the evidence and trends say otherwise.
Los Doyers must be shaking in the spikes right now...lol
Mets put up 2 measly runs on 2 LA scrubs with the bases loaded.
One on a WP....and the other on a sac fly.
Like I said earlier.....they're getting chances but are settling for the bare minimum.
Wait...there's more...
Infielder/Outfielder Brandon Drury is now pitching in the 9th.
14-4.
And now OF Kevin Pillar takes the mound for NY w/ 2 outs.
Oh..and the bags are drunk with dodgers.
Silver lining....
Yes, the Mets got their butts beat badly on Sunday, but at least it wasn't another heart wrenching extra inning 1 run loss.
I'm trying to put a positive spin on getting swept obviously...but it only serves just as a self placating measure.
NEW YORK -- Even though they lost on Friday and Saturday in extra innings, the Mets showed the game was not over against the Dodgers until the final out was made. However, Sunday was a different story. Los Angeles scored early and often and pounded New York, 14-4, at Citi
NEW YORK -- Despite coming into Sunday’s matchup four games behind the Giants in the National League West, some projections still have the Dodgers as the team to beat in the division. Fangraphs gives the Dodgers a 57.4 percent chance of taking the division and a whopping 20.9 percent chance
NEW YORK -- Mets manager Luis Rojas didn’t rule out shortstop Francisco Lindor being activated from the injured list by the time the team returns from its West Coast trip. The Mets will be back at Citi Field on Aug. 24 against the Giants. Lindor, who has been out of
8/16-18
NY Mets @ SF Giants
Tough 3 gamer here in the city by the bay.
Very difficult 7 game road trip begins tonight.
Mets are treading water and trying to stay afloat.
Only way to remedy that is to start winning some games again.
Well..that's probably all the runs the Giants will need to win this one....but I'm sure they'll score a few more..while the Mets continue to struggle no matter who they play or where.
Gausman already has 7 K's thru 4.
Rich Hill can't even make it out of the 4th.
Castro is now in with runners on the corners and 2 outs.
edit:
Castro got the 3rd out.
2-0 SF heading to the 5th.
There's a real good chance we'll get swept the 3 here in SF....and the 4 down in LA as well.
And go limping back home carrying a 10 game losing streak to Citi...only to face these Giants again.
