So the Mets have managed to get 2 on in the 9th with 1 out.
(tying and winning runs mind you)

But Lindor with a major fail unproductive out, popped up on the 1st pitch......smh

Nimmo then worked a full count and walked to load em up for Pete....

Edit:
Pete lined out to end it.

3-2 Final.

I know Rojas is a dead man walking but at the end of the day he's not responsible for guys hitting. I don't know if these guys will figure it out for next year but this is just silly.

Agreed.
Injuries notwithstanding...
This season had lots of positives and promise from the onset...but it's become a big disappointment for the last month or so. Once we got to mid/late July they started leaking oil, and by August they were getting low on gas and now they're just running on fumes.

Rojas will likely be gone after this season.
The whole fallout from the Carlos Beltran debacle a few years ago still pisses me off.
That was the perfect time to go with Edgardo Alfonzo imho...but the former regime chose Mickey Callaway instead....and they still haven't recovered.

There are no easy answers..but Cohen and this front office need to face some hard truths so they can come up with something cogent and someone who's viable and legit..and not just for manager...but to also take a good look at the current roster and do some creative maneuvering to plug some holes...and there are a few.

They might as well just shut Jake down for the rest of the year at this point...and get him healthy for 2022.
Bringing him back in mid Sept is all but useless now, and could backfire badly.

But if Thor is finally good to go again, whether out of the pen or a spot start here and there..I want to see it.

Same with Syndergaard, I know he wants to prove himself in a contract year but no reason to risk these guys.

I'm okay with Thor getting a few relief appearances. Besides...he may not even be on the roster next year.
Let's see what he has after a 2 year absence...and go from there.
We know about Jake...he has nothing to prove.

I mean if we were just a game or 2 behind in the division or the wild card race I be all for it...
All hand on deck.
But there's only 36 games left and we're 7 back in the east, and the wild card where there are 4 teams ahead of us.
Anything is possible obviously..and I'm not gonna rule anything out...until it mathematically becomes impossible.

Pete tied it up in the 6th with a 2 run blast.
Top of the 8th.
2-2 game.

Lugo is in now and already gives up a single and then a HBP.
No outs.....
Now a PH single puts SF up 3-2...and both runners moved up.

Always something....
2nd & 3rd....No outs.

Now Loup comes in...for Lugo.

Thanks for nothing, Seth.

Damn...I really hope SF sweeps this series..and it becomes the impetus for the firings of Rojas & the entire coaching staff before we get to September.

This has gotten beyond abysmal ...and there's just no end in sight.

Loup gives up a walk to load them up...with no outs.

Just noticed Atlanta has tonight off for some reason...even after having last night off too.
How the F. does that happen....and why??

Also...Philly is losing to Arizona late.
Not that any of that matters....lol

Rinse - Spin - Repeat.

Bottom of the 9th....3-2 game.

Mets need 1 to tie....or 2 to walk it off.

Edit:
Predictably they go quietly 1-2-3 without a whimper... and are swept.

3-2 Final.

Fun times..... :rolleyes2:

I can almost hear that fat lady singing on Broadway from way out here.

Stick the fork in these guys. It's not their year.
Better luck next season

FIRE ROJAS!
PLEASE!

The same sad old coming up a buck short syndrome...

Cookie...

Thor...

On the mend...

Mets catcher Tomás Nido (sprained left thumb) could come off the injured list Friday or Saturday.
Starting catcher James McCann (lower back spasms) is taking batting practice but isn't quite as close.
Reserve infielder Luis Guillorme (strained left hamstring) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse.

Next...
Mets LHP Rich Hill (6-5, 4.13 ERA) pitches Friday night against Washington RHP Paolo Espino (3-4, 4.28) in the opener of a three-game series in Queens. Hill is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA in six games — five starts — for the Mets since arriving from Tampa Bay.
