With his club stuck in a five-game skid, Mets owner Steve Cohen took to Twitter Wednesday morning. Pillar admitted the comment was "a topic of conversation" in New York's clubhouse before the game. "He's a passionate guy and he cares very much about us individually," Pillar said. "He cares about this team, and he wants to see us be successful.

Roster moves....

The Mets recalled Catcher Chance Sisco to serve as a backup in McCann's absence and optioned RHP Yennsy Díaz to Triple-A Syracuse.


Trainer's room....

C James McCann missed his second straight game with back spasms and could go on the injured list if he doesn't improve in the coming days.
SS Javier Báez (back spasms) fielded grounders for the third day in a row. He is eligible to come off the IL Sunday.


Up next....

Mets RHP Taijuan Walker (7-7, 3.75 ERA) will try to snap a four-game losing streak Thursday night as New York opens a four-game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. Walker's last win came July 3 against the Yankees.

Mets: C James McCann is improving since being scratched Tuesday because of back spasms. The team is optimistic about keeping him off the IL. ... SS Javier Baez (back spasms) took batting practice for the first time and SS Francisco Lindor (right oblique strain) took grounders. They worked on some double plays, too. If they don't return this weekend, they're expected back next week at home.
