Notre Dame, why I HATE the Fighting Irish. Snowflakes should avoid this thread.

TRIGGER ALERT, if you are a snowflake, I, personally, hope you move along and go to some other thread. This is America so as far as I'm concerned, anyone here can do whatever they want. But I'd prefer this thread be somewhere that harsh things can be posted and brought up and discussed without people running off and complaining or whining or crying about bullies saying mean things. I can't control how the admins choose to censor or not censor posts in this thread, but I can hope they will try to avoid censoring anything unless absolutely necessary.

We can do our part by keeping our negative remarks as NON personal as possible. Attacking a religion should be allowed. Attacking religious leaders should be allowed, same as attacking politicians should be allowed. But Catholics are people. I have friends and family and co-workers who are Catholic and I like all of them, too. I'll try to remember that, and hopefully anyone else coming in here to contribute keeps that in mind as well.




I have tons of issues with Notre Dame, some of them are not very serious at all, from just hating their stupid football team, to not wanting them in the B1G Conference as some seem to want, to some issues that are very serious, including having some responsibility in the child sex abuse scandals that have been rocking the RCC in general over the years and lots inbetween.

I'm inviting all who HATE ND to come in here and say why, and I don't care if it's silly petty shit like you don't like the color of their uniforms or you are offended by their choice of mascot or because their fb coach is a jerk, or if it's that you believe Notre Dame is where the Devil himself has set up his throne, share those thoughts and opinions here.



And for any and all Catholics, you are welcome as well to defend your school and your religion if you are Catholic as I am very sure ND's being Catholic will be brought up as one of the reasons people don't like ND. But be warned, I'll encourage a ZERO TOLERANCE for censorship rule in this thread. I'm not a site admin, so they may choose to do some censoring, but I'd hope they won't. I'm hoping they will just leave this thread alone. But that may depend on us. I encouraged non-Catholics to try to avoid personal attacks, so same goes for any of you Catholics coming in here, try not to take attacks of your religion as personal attacks. The RCC has murdered at least one human being during it's existence for disagreeing with it, so that alone qualifies it as not perfect and hence deserving of SOME criticism at least.

That's a pretty dumb statement. Fanbases can't be just students or grads or have some amorphous connection to the university.

I can't speak for others with this negative attitude towards ND's fanbase, but it could be in part, as it WAS for me, that so many among that fanbase were Catholics. It was like they had an unfair advantage, sort of? I haven't felt that way for a long time, though.

It is a pretty small school stuck in Northern Indiana, yet people go out of their way to explain why they hate it. Usually it is obviously jealousy (as in this case). Or someone who couldn’t get in. Sometimes it’s just because of the football team. But in any event one of the best things about being an ND fan is that you will usually find that many of the people that you talk to will either like, or hate Notre Dame. Pretty sure no one actually gives a crap about Minnesota, so it makes sense that a Minnesota fan would have to bring up ND since no one is going to start or reply to a thread about Minnesota.

i hate them because their football players have a high graduation rate. they could have a much better team if they had the scholastic standards of some of the other perennial top five or ten teams.

I have always said to myself. If I chose Football. My top 5 would be

ND (Prestige and Academics), Washington (Close to home), Stanford (Academics), Georiga (Prestige) and the Surprise team of the year/Oklahoma State(if it's any of the top 4)

Yep. At one time during the Bernie Bierman days Minnesota was ND’s equal in college football. But Minnesota hasn’t been relevant in over 70 years and they’ll never be relevant again.

I developed a sever dislike for them when I was in high school in the late 70's. They were always on tv, no matter which service academy they were playing.

Then they hired Lou Holtz. He was annoying as fuck.

Ha ha, too funny. My issue with ND currently has everything to do with ND's part in corrupting the United States and contributing to the atmosphere within the Catholic Church that has led to millions of little boys being buggered and no one within the church doing anything about it.

And Minnesota is doing just fine, with 5 times more Natl Titles in Hockey than ND. Both of ND's cbb titles occurred under the leadership of a former Gopher. I don't think ND has any Baseball natl titles? Minnesota has 3. And Minnesota has produced way more Nobel Prize winners than ND, and produces more Academic All-Americans than ND as well.

lol, nd contributed to millions of little boys being buggered? not sure how notre dame contributed to this, but i think the actual numbers of victims who accused the catholic church, that have come forward, is in the thousands worldwide in the last 65 years or so. with very few criminal convictions.

over the last 20 years, in america, that number has been @ single digits/year. actually quite low.

if you want to see some really high abused rates, try the public schools.

When it comes to football, My top 5 would be

1. - UMn (home team and academics), 2. - Stanford (academics without being Ivy league like arrogant), 3. - Florida (most B1G like team in the SEC, so good sports and decent academics), 4. - NDSU (this isn't so much that I'm a fan as I respect what they've accomplished), 5. Whoever is playing Notre Dame that week, lol. (I'm too much of a loyal Gopher fan to be a fan of many other teams).

My bottom teams would be 1. Notre Dame, 2. Wisconsin(UMn's #1 rival), 3. Cincy, 4. Miami of Oh., 5. Whoever's playing my Gophers that week?

So the Natl Title won in 1960 and the Rose Bowl victory over UCLA in 1962, the Big Ten Title won in 1967 all while producing the first African American 1st Team All-American at QB and 2 Outland Trophy winners wasn't relevant, eh? lol

And the new Stadium, the new practice facilities and the hottest new coach at the time all argue against your claim Minnesota will never be relevant again.
