Lets Talk about Notre Dame

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Is Notre Dame with Everett Gholston back a threat to go on another unexpected run like 2012?

Or is the schedule to difficult to pull off that task?

I personally, feel that they are going to surprise this season. I get it, they lost A bunch on defense. But is Kelly the type of coach that recruits well? Is Kelly the type of coach that has players ready to fill in holes? The answer is yes to both.

I really don't like ND. But I think they have a good chance of going 10-2 and getting into a big 6 game.

Nobody is talking about the Fighting Irish. That is when they surprise under Kelly. So Let's do it Hooplans

On offense ND returns 3/5 of the offensive line, Golson is a big upgrade over Rees and the skill position players will be as good as Kelly has had. I expect the offense to be much better than they were last year which was below average IMO.

The defense losses names like Tuitt, Nix III and Shembo, but the defense wasn't that good last year to begin with. The secondary should be really good this year IMO. The line and LB's have talent but it's inexperienced. Even with the losses on defense I expect them to be no worse than last year and may even be better statistically.

Looking at the schedule, it is brutal. I'd say the only game I'd chalk up as a sure loss would be FSU. There are a lot of toss up games against USC, Stanford, Arizona State and I'd through UNC and Louisville into that equation as well. I said the other day they could have a record anywhere from 11-1 to 7-5. I'll compromise and take the middle at 9-3.

It is but the good thing is there are only 3 true road games albeit they are all ranked. And the first true road game isn't until October 18th at Florida State. The young defense will have a chance to get experience and by then Golson should be back in the swing of it.

I haven't heard hardly anything about ND this off season -- it's actually been kind of weird. Usually there's some pre-season hype similar to what Michigan gets just because of the name...but I just haven't heard it. And for that reason, it makes me nervous that they're quietly producing a decent team. I have no idea what to expect from them this year but their schedule is pretty brutal, at least as far as the strength of the teams they play.

I was driving past South Bend today and a deer drove in front of my car.. I am not sure what to make of it, but I slowed down and saw another and then a rabbit.

I stopped at a gas station and look toward campus and all of the animals were fleeing, running east.

I am not sure what all of this means but when animals run away, that cannot mean good things.
