I think it's 95% the Steelers will take a QB in this draft. The Rooneys don't talk in the media a whole bunch about players especially, but Dan has said publicly he "thinks" they need to take Ben's retirement seriously...those are marching orders if I've ever heard them.

I really expect the 1st round pick to be DEF...edge or S/CB. Steelers have to fix 3rd down DEF and aside from a nice DL pick up in FA, they didn't do anything to address it so it would surprise me to see them go QB at 30. 2nd, 3rd rd, it wouldn't surprise me to see a QB called at all. Mahommes is a little better prospect right now than the guy I like...Dobbs. He has the physical and mental (local kid, carried a 4.0 at a tough HS and has a aero space engineering deg) tools for the job...just raw from a NFL perspective. I know one of the things the Steelers (I'm sure any team) want to know about him is how serious he is about playing football.
Well, the issue with this draft is that there is a good chance you aren't going to have a single guy that can replace Big Ben. Steelers are built to win with an average QB, though. Especially if they plug in a couple of holes in the secondary and pass rush.

Exactly...that's why I'm willing to stand pat and see what 2nd tier QB might be there in the 3rd round. Even with the drama of retirement this year, I think as long as the team is competitive, I think Ben will play the '18 season but I'm not comfortable saying he will play out the contract ('19 season).

I know I'm preparing for a dark period again in Steeler land once Ben is gone, but they are close to having the surrounding cast to cushion the blow for a young QB and at least be a competitive team.

Btw, I know Kamara is from Tennessee. I had Brantley in my sights and @broncosmitty grabbed him right in front of me.

We're actually entering the 2nd part of the draft where I now have no idea who is going to come off the board. Could be anyone as far as i can tell

I got Garrett at 1 and I expect nothing less but to be honest I would LOVE for Howard to fall to 12 and for the Browns to get him. I didn't have much a choice to draft Mitch at 12: 1. I couldn't trade down 2. Howard was gone 3. I felt like Mitch was still the best QB

If the Browns could get these picks it would be perfect... 1. Garrett, 12. Howard, 33. Trubisky or Budda Baker

I would've taken Trubisky before 33 for sure. If you passed on him, that probably would've changed my whole draft strategy.

Either way you are going to get some nice talent hard not to with those picks. It just comes down to how much will it help the team improve.

I prefer to look at it like he got a few good players but going to the Browns will automatically make them busts and they will be backups for another team in 3 or 4 years...

I just looked up the team that won last year's vote:

SAN FRANCISCO 49ers

1.12.12 : Kevin Dodd - DE - Clemson
1.32.32 : Paxton Lynch - QB - Memphis
2.29.61 : Nick Martin - C - Notre Dame
2.30.62 : Kendall Fuller - CB - Virginia Tech
3.5.69 : Vadal Alexander - OG - LSU
3.35.135 : Cole Toner - OT - Harvard
5.37.178 : Josh Forrest - ILB - Kentucky
6.36.215 : Daniel Braverman - WR - Western Michigan
6.38.217 : Aaron Wallace - OLB - UCLA
7.7.232 : Beau Sandland - TE - Montana St.

At the end of the day, we're all just kinda guessing
