Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets have agreed to a one-year contract with Omar Narvaez.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post adds that Narvaez will make $8 million in 2023 and that the deal includes a $7 million player option for the 2024 season. Narvaez has always graded out extremely well when it comes to pitch framing, and is only a few years removed from a terrific offensive season. He and James McCann figure to share the catching duties for the Mets -- provided McCann isn't moved elsewhere in a trade. Keep in mind, top prospect Francisco Alvarez is still waiting in the wings.
Not saying the M’s should’ve signed him but IMO they should sign a backup catcher. With all due respect to Murphy what has done that he is guaranteed a spot on the roster?

I know the guy turned down $2M so he better hope it goes for at least $3M. Big risk.

Aaron Judge's record-breaking 62nd HR ball sells for $1.5M

He turned down $2M. So he lost a lot of money. $500K plus auction fees. Ouch!

Not sure if I posted this earlier.

Padres signed INF Matt Carpenter to a one-year, $6 million contract.

The deal, which also contains a $6 million player option for 2024, is now official. Carpenter will receive $12 million guaranteed in the multi-year deal and has a chance to earn even more through performance-based incentives. The 37-year-old infielder experienced a remarkable late-career rebirth last year with the Yankees, hitting .305/.412/.727 with 15 homers in just 154 plate appearances before suffering a season-ending left foot fracture in early August. He'll occupy a versatile bench role for the Padre this season, which limits his potential impact for fantasy managers.

Wouldn’t have been a bad signing for the Mariners. Versatile at positions the Mariners lack, backup 1B and 3B.

Agree 100%

hell as far as I know the Mariners do not even have a sure thing starting 1b for next season ( France - I hope not - White - unproven and potential unhealed )

France is the 1B next year unless somehow they can make a blockbuster trade for a 1B. White I think ends up in the OF. To even make the team either Teoscar is so atrocious in the field and can only DH or France gets injured. No other path really. I guess could have him be the right handed platoon with Kelenic.

Not an off season move ( but yes it's non Mariners )

I for one am so happy to see Dan Vogelbach as DH for the NY Mets, He was bounced around some after he left us just a brief couple years ago: I think it went TOR - MIL - PIT then on to his current NYM. I kinda follow him and enjoy watching him play during his brief stints each game. He has never lost his big kid smile and love for the game that he was known for here in Seattle.

if the Mariners or Reds ( hahaha ) do not win a WS ring in 2023 ... I hope 'Vogey' nabs one with the New York Mets !!

Reds signed C Curt Casali to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with a mutual option for 2024.

This is a homecoming of sorts for Casali, who spent three years with the Reds between 2018-2020. The veteran catcher has posted a weak .207/.315/.342 combined batting line over the last two seasons with the Giants and Mariners. He will presumably serve as Tyler Stephenson's primary backup behind the plate in Cincinnati. Mike Moustakas has been designated for assignment in a corresponding roster move.

I still remember when they cut him towards the end of last season.

He had a game winning walk off HR and then they dropped him a day or 2 later. That's tough
