Braves acquired OF Sam Hilliard from the Rockies for RHP Dylan Spain.​

The first official trade of the offseason sends Hilliard to Atlanta to serve as extra organizational outfield depth moving forward. The 28-year-old slugger failed to capitalize on opportunities in Colorado over the last few season, hitting just .212/.294/.423 with 29 round-trippers and 15 stolen bases across 639 plate appearances in 214 games since 2019. Perhaps a change of scenery will help him re-discover the power/speed combination that made him an intriguing late-round fantasy sleeper candidate just a few seasons ago.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Mets are planning to pick up Daniel Vogelbach's $1.5 million club option for the 2023 season.​

Nothing official from the Mets yet, but that decision will be made sometime this upcoming week. Vogelbach was acquired from the Pirates at the trade deadline last August and went on to hit a respectable .255/.394/.436 with six home runs across 183 plate appearances in 55 games as a right-mashing platoon option for New York. This move doesn't come as much of a surprise at all.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that free agent Japanese right-hander Kodai Senga is eligible to negotiate contract terms with major league teams starting on Thursday.​

Welcome to the offseason, folks. Senga officially filed for international free agency in late October after accruing enough service time with the Softbank Hawks of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball to avoid being subject to Japan's posting system. The 29-year-old right-hander, who has spent the last 11 seasons pitching in Japan, closed out the 2022 campaign with a microscopic 1.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 156/49 K/BB ratio across 144 innings. He's expected to generate a ton of interest on the free agent market this offseason.

The Nationals have declined Nelson Cruz's $16 million mutual option for the 2023 season.​

The move is official. Cruz will receive a $3 million buyout and head to free agency after hitting posting a lackluster .651 OPS with just 10 home runs in 507 plate appearances over 125 games last season in his Nationals debut. The 42-year-old slugger underwent left eye surgery last month and hopes to continue his remarkable career next season. He's unlikely to make an impact for fantasy managers, even if he manages to latch on somewhere else this offseason.
