See how the Orioles have struggled this year, this really got me wondering. Is the window for success really that tiny? Especially if you're a team outside some of the giant markets? The Orioles, since 2022 had been on the upswing and this year they have surprisingly collapsed.... back to their 2018-2021 form.
I’m not an expert whatsoever but it seems the Orioles problem is the same but opposite of the Mariners. It seems like both of their windows would be bigger and longer had they just worked together on trades. They had a plethora of position playing prospects they could’ve dealt for the Mariners plethora of pitching prospects.

You can go “cheap” on free agents if instead of trading for Corbin Burnes you trade for Woo or Miller and vice versa

That teammate should be released by the organization. That honestly is more dumb than anything I see in little league
Ya not sure how somebody can be so stupid.

Sam Haggerty starting centerfielder for today today’s Texas Rangers game

He’s also batting lead for them

His batting average and slug percentage is higher than Julio’s

And Julio probably made more money on the last Home stand than what Sam Haggerty will for the entire season

I hope he does well. I personally am a fan of his.

Good for Sam. He was always a gamer. Played hard and probably exceeded his talent. Loved the guy for that.

The Orioles have a lot of great young talent that unfortunately does not include pitching. But their young hitters will hit again. At some point Henderson, Holliday, Cowser, Westbrook, Rutschman, and O'Neill will start hitting. It's just unreasonable to think that all six of them will hit like shit all season long. When they do start hitting, the Orioles will start climbing up in the standings. They probably dug themselves in too deep of a hole to make the playoffs this year, but their offense still has a young nucleus and their window of opportunity will still be open next year if they hit on some pitching.

But their situation is different from the Mariners. The Mariners present window rides on their starting pitching which has pretty much broken down this year. How they've managed to be competitive without Kirby and Gilbert is a testament to Dan Wilson and Cal Raleigh. The Mariners future window looks more like it will be built around its offense with Ford, Young, Montes, and maybe Arroyo and Farmelo coming soon to join Raleigh, JRod, and, perhaps, Williamson. I say will be centered on offense because if Kirby and Gilbert return to form, they will eventually cost too much in arbitration and will get traded rather than kept by this cheap ass franchise.

It makes literally no sense to me that Jerry is obsessed with trading with Tampa instead of Baltimore and St Louis where those teams have line up perfectly for win/win trades.

Agreed. If we are going to dump our 5th and 6th year arbitration-eligible veteran pitchers in the coming years (Gilbert and Kirby), then let's get young pitching for them from an organization that has young pitching,

or

young established position players with team control for at least three years. It doesn't have to be the same damn teams we trade with (Tampa, San Diego, Toronto) over and over and over. Open the door to all 29 teams. Gilbert and Kirby should attract every one of them.

With Baltimore, it was just once Gilbert and Kirby were established they should’ve dealt Miller or Woo. They got position players and the M’s had a bunch of pitching. Heck they could still do a trade with prospect swaps too.

Just bugs me cause I proposed a deal last year to them for Stowers and he’s been productive and the Orioles got squat. Maybe I’m missing something but it just seems Jerry only likes trading with certain teams and or wants to “win” trades by out smarting everyone. Or who knows, maybe other GM’s hate him so much they won’t deal with him cause everyone and their mother has linked Gilbert and Kirby to the Cardinals for 3 plus years
