If they just the franchise a chance there I am sure it could thrive...
.
I hear they're hoping to host an outdoor game this year, so that should take care of things.
Arizona Coyotes Co-Owner, President and CEO Anthony LeBlanc announced today that the Coyotes and Arizona based Gila River Casinos have agreed to terms on a nine-year partnership agreement that includes the naming rights for Glendale Arena. The agreement is pending approval from Glendale City Council on September 9. If approved, the new name of the venue will be Gila River Arena. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Team will still be losing money regardless of what the name/sponsor of the arena is
According to Brooks RSE is claiming $24 million in loses last season and by the terms of the new lease agreement the franchise can leave if total losses exceed $50 million over a 5 year period (starting last year)
Does it get fast-tracked if losses hit the threshold in two years?
Actually, esls was right on the mark with the 'Boots' moniker:
In 2006, Barroway had a deal to buy the Philadelphia 76ers, but that fell apart because he couldn't get the money together. Last summer, he was looking at buying the Devils, but eventually pulled out of the deal. Then, earlier this year, he was in talks to buy the Islanders until Wang pulled out.
Dontcha just hate when Wang pulls out?
I guess that depends on what end result you're looking for.
