I think the Cards have officially announced they are putting their guys with better STL pitching in game 1 and 2 with Lackey going game 1 and Garcia going game 2. Wacha is getting game 3 which probably will be the Arrietta matchup so that will be tough sledding. Wacha was solid all year and then totally fell off at the end. If his arm is done then thats pretty much an automatic win for the Cubs.

The big worry I have with the Cardinals is their hitting. The Cubs have been averaging over 4 runs a game lately so It'll probably take 5 runs a game average to beat the Cubs even with the Cardinals staff. Thats a tall task.
I know it means less in the playoffs, but Wacha seems to really struggle vs the Cubs.

He has been Jekyll and Hyde this year.

Interestingly, in his 3 good months he never played that Cubs and all of his bad months had starts against the Cubs. So he has 3 bad starts against the Cubs and one good one but Im not sure if its the Cubs or if its Wacha. If the 7.88 ERA guy from last month comes out against a sub 1 ERA guy then thats just a throw away game

If the Cubs win game 1 I don't see a way STL can win the series.

I honestly can't believe the Cubs are in this position. I was hoping for a .500 season this year and to be a competitive team with eyes on 2016. The fact they won 97 games and advanced in the WC game is unbelievable to me. I'd be happy with any result in this series if it wasn't ST Louis they were playing. 1984 I was crushed ( fuck Garvey) 1989 ( fuck Will Clark) 2003 ( fuck everything) 2008 ( fuck LA) but this series is something different to this Cubs fan. If they get by The cards everything after that is icing on the cake.
Go Cubs Go :suds:

The Cardinals are one of the worst teams in baseball against left-handed pitchers, so Lester won't have any excuse for not throwing a gem tomorrow. This is what he's getting his bazillions for.

I've made two separate NLDS threads for the Dodgers/Mets. I made the first one on September 30th.

You're not the only one pumped for the playoffs, bro. :suds:

I just believe this season's playoffs are going to amazing... better than last season, mostly because the Cubs might have a chance or at least getting a chance :heh:

The playoffs are always better when the Giants are at home.

I grew up watching Harry Caray and Steve Stone every summer. My mom is from Chicago and a huge Cubs fan. I made my first trip to Wrigley (and with her) this summer and it was amazing. I'll definitely be on the Cubs bandwagon against anyone not Dodger Blue. Hope we get to both play in the CS, and the winner gets the ring.

The other half of the coin is that the Cards have blackened my heart a little and I want to see good in the world again.

Interesting series, assuming it goes the distance. Lester vs. Lackey is tough to call tonight. I like the Cardinals chances in game 2, as Garcia has been having a great comeback year. Game 3 could be tough, as Wacha has looked worn out, and Arrieta is looking sharp of course. Game 4 is probably too tough to call. Most likely it becomes a bullpen affair in which case I like the Cardinals chances if Lynn can avoid his habit of giving up a huge inning in October.

Counting the minutes.
