Time to bring in a reliever. It was fun while it lasted. Sanchez was starting to lose his edge and you could tell against Edman.

It's like the Nationals watched a replay of the Braves in that game 5 against the Cardinals and said "let's just do the opposite of what they did"

Unbelievable. I think most people were looking at this as the game the Nats would give up. It doesn’t get much easier on paper for the cards. Scherzer on five days rest and Daniel Hudson rejoining the nats. I think the Cards needed game 1 much more than the nationals did.

I’m not counting the cardinals out yet. They got a lot of grit and seem to be good at coming back.
I'm not counting them out, either, but they had a lot of issues hitting against the Braves outside of 2 innings in that series. It was fine if the Braves pitching was better than anticipated but if its actually just the Cardinals being a bad hitting team than they really don't belong in the World Series against the Yanks or Astros.

they have done in previous series, why change strategies now.
Meh, I seriously doubt the runner at third base doesn’t make it home on that play either. You are just looking for a scapegoat. The cards got outplayed in game 1. It wasn’t just 1 play or mismanagement.

If Washington keeps pitching the way they are, this is gonna be a short series.

Cards forgot how to hit?
They never knew how. They've been a bad hitting team all season.

Braves just had a couple of really terrible innings.

That being said, it almost seems like Washington scouted the Cardinals perfectly and we have no answer at all. Cardinals actually hit the Nationals fairly well in the regular season.
