If you're gonna spend that much you might as well do it right. Although I'm not a fan of the "cheap cheap" attempt usually made by the Padres, so I guess putting the money into it is better than giving the team little chance to compete.

The only teams I have ever looked sideways at due to salary is the '90s Yankees and the recent dogs. These two teams really made a mockery of the game by going SO over what everyone else was doing that it almost made ME think positively about a cap.

And I HATE the idea of a cap.

I might feel differently about it if I was a fan of a team spending crazy money, but I'd rather have their be a cap instead of teams being able to do with they have done. That said, seeing the Dodgers spend that much makes their failure to reach the WS and sometimes even the NLCS even better.
