Don't worry, some day Padres fans will get to discuss their own World Series heroes; someday.

You don't want what Preller did.

Money spent equals success according to this half-wit. Who really cares if he gutted the farm system and treated the roster as if it was a fantasy team instead of an actual franchise.

Sure, let's take on Justin Upton, Matt Kemp, and Will Myers even though NONE of them can play CF...sure worth taking on a quarter of a billion in remaining salary so we can "show the fans".

But that is what flicks Monta's bean so....

Unfortunately, this seems to be true...they just don't have the healthy horses to make a run of it. Next year, I expect them to re-sign Leake and sign at least 1 prominent pitcher to solidify the top half of the rotation much like they went after Lester.

Good point, but expect the Dodgers to also sign a prominent pitcher to solidity the top half of their rotation.

Or they could wait for Ryu to get healthy. Either way, the Dodgers lack the lineup and bullpen the Giants do, so they will need more then 1 starting pitcher.

I believe that a bully is primarily a result of the manager and pitching coach. With Donnie likely gone after this season, I fear they will actually be able to put together a passable bully moving forward.

Add that to a 600M payroll, fugetaboutit.

Sorta but anyone who doesn't think that Friedman is the one pulling the strings a la Billy Beane is crazy. Donnie ain't the one making the calls.

Who eliminated the Padres this year?

How long ago did that happen?

AJ Preller.

The day he was hired.

I want my team back.

Less Uptons and Kemps and more Denorfias and Venables.

Maybe so, but a bully needs boots on the ground management, and Donnie is incapable of that.

I do not follow the dogs THAT closely, but from afar, I trust Honeycutt to handle it well. Give him a good partner at manager, and the dogs will be a force.

Because I live in LA, have a wife who is a life long Doyer fan, and therefore have to put up with listening to the games, I can tell you that last season was a Donnie shit show. He played musical chairs with his pen so that by the time he needed them most, they never had specific roles and shat themselves. This season, there are specific roles but the guys in those roles are pseudo-gas cans in them, which because of the opposite nature of his managerial style, leads Dodger beat writers to speculate that Friedman is the one assigning roles, results be damned.
