Why did Anthopoulos think Sean Murphy would be a better fit for the Braves than William Contreras? Hasn't seemed to work out that way.
Yeah I don't get that one either. It has to be something about his defense because Contreras was a great hitter even before he got to Milwaukee. This year he's probably been the best hitter in baseball so far.

I can’t believe people still sign up for the Joey Gallo show. Guy needs to raise his average 80 points just to get to the Mendoza line.

I was surprised at how many Philly fans were annoyed at the amount of Nola's contract extension. I thought it was very team-friendly, considering the money thrown at starting pitchers these days. Sure, he was coming off a season with a sucky ERA, but his WHIP, K, and BAA were on par with previous years. Now he is 6-2 with an ERA more consistent with what the team is used to, and those same criticizing fans are prolly now denying they ever doubted the signing.

I agree with all of this. I think he gave them a discount. People did bitch because of his 2023. The funny thing is you have like Every Other Year Nola. He’s been best in his even years and off in his odd years. Crazy.

Because of the leap Ranger Suarez has made he’s probably Philly’s 3rd best starter now. That would make Nola one of the best 3rd starters in baseball.

Nola ended up having a great outing today. 3 runs in 7 innings. Just hard luck that his two mistakes ended up being HRs.

The Braves are sucking right now, down 8-0. Elder has pitched like shit lately. Acuna and Olson have been two of the most disappointing players in MLB so far. I hope Riley and d’Arnaud are back in the lineup soon and hopefully Murphy will return at some point as well. We are about to be 5 games behind the goddamn Phillies. We haven’t had a bad season so far by any means but we should be better than this.

Holy shit! Braves blew a 5-0 lead to the Padres in game 1 of a double header. Phil’s are no worse than 5 games up after today

Braves are in a huge fucking slump. Fucking bullpen shits the bed in epic fashion. We are struggling all around right now - fortunately there’s a long way to go in the season and hopefully we regain momentum.

Yep. It’s a marathon and not a sprint. Olson and Acuna Jr aren’t going to be this down for much longer. It’s not like it’s the playoffs or anything yet.

Yeah I would rather the Braves get this slump out of their system at this point in the season and then heat up later on. Last year I thought we were clearly the best team in MLB in the regular season but then we just fizzled in October.

Except for 2021 when they pieced together the mash unit to account for all the injured regulars that’s been who the Braves are for years. Great regular season team. Pucker in the playoffs. They’ve been that way my whole life. Bobby Cox had 3 HOFers in his rotation for a decade! And he was only able to get one ring with that group in all that time. Crazy how futile Atlanta has been in the playoffs.

Sale was lights out again and the definition of a stopper. 7 innings of shut out baseball and 9 Ks. Braves split the double header 3-0.

Sale has been a great addition for us this year, he’s been dominant. Glad d’Arnaud was back in the lineup, hopefully Austin Riley is back soon. Ozuna has been our best offensive player, he had another dinger tonight
Up next for us is a road trip to Chicago and Pittsburgh, then back to ATL to face the Nats and A’s. Maybe we can get hot now, glad we avoided the sweep.

Why am I not surprised he starts looking more like Sale of old as soon as he leaves us... lol. I am happy to see him doing well, just wish Grissom would start hitting.

Not that the Sox are having starting pitching woes (top 10 in fWAR, FIP, ERA, xFIP, BB/9, HR/9, GB%)

I heart Ranger Suarez. 27-6 in their last 33. Loved the 8th inning tonight. Hoffman gives up his first earned run since April 8th and a 3-1 lead cut in half. They take the bottom half of the inning and they immediately get his back and score 2 runs. Just a fun run of baseball.
