Kevin Gausman was torched for seven runs in five innings and took a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday.
He coughed up a five-spot in the third inning, which featured a two-run homer by Elias Diaz and run-scoring knocks by Bryan Reynolds, Starling Marte and Josh Bell. Gausman tied a career-high by allowing 12 base hits and six of them were of the extra-base variety. As bad as this start was it was actually a lot better than his last one, when he gave up eight runs while getting just three outs against the Nationals. He falls to 2-5 with a gruesome 6.15 ERA after 12 starts. The Braves may give him some extra time off before running him out there for another beating.

He needs a permanent vacation from wearing a uniform that has a tomahawk on the chest.
