I sure am glad to see Mo used the off season to fix the bullpen. My gawd the relievers suck, no that the starters have done mmuch better. Holland last year, Miller this year.

You're right, same story as last year with bad relief pitching including no reliable closer, just different names.

Good job by Wainwright and we finally got some good relief pitching to seal the deal today.

Can't agree more.....Wainwright found the fountain of youth today, his curve ball was nasty. Good win...and Cubs lose again.

I saw the brouhaha between the Reds and Pirates. Dietrich might want to start jogging towards first base before the ball hit the water.

The 2nd one was even farther. He posed for that one too, though not as long.

Strange, the Reds announcer Chris Welsh said after it was pointed out that DD was posing, said, (paraphrasing) ... 'pitchers don't get upset now when hitters do that. Or bat flips.' He related a story about when he was a player illustrating how things had changed. Two innings later, Archer loses his brain.

Any guesses by anyone on what day Joe Maddon will be fired?

I never thought I would be saying this but I have actually been cheering for the Cubbies for the past couple of days for one reason ONLY . . . . . to get the Redbirds closer to the Brewers in the standings.

Did I really say this?

Pitchers are such babies when they give up home runs. Fuck Archer.

2 weeks into the season is not a good time to be irrational.

John, Trust me, I'm not trying to be irrational, I'm just trying to do all the cheering I can to keep the Cardinals from being behind by double digits in May with the hot start the Brewers have had.

He just stood at home plate for like 5 seconds like he was the 2nd coming of Babe Ruth or something.

All teams will slump. A week of crap games is sometimes not always bad baseball, but just bad luck. It is hard to quantify but there are metrics. Milw and Pitts finished off the Reds who are having a lot of bad luck.
Milw is the best team in the division but they got their flaws.

I hear you but a slump out of the gate is not good!

For sure, a good start is fun for fans and a bad start (1-8) is not fun, but the matter is, the stress is more on the fans than on the players or front office. There is an end game for ball players who don't win awards based on 40 at-bats, but 640 at bats.
They play 26 weeks, not 2 ... and being 4-8 after 12 games is a big deal to me if the game I bought a ticket for was one of the 8, not the 4.
I read a couple of years ago that some keyboard expert with 8 years of lifetime watching his favorite team -- suggested that 3 games into the season, he already knew who would win the pennants. Somebody was 1-2 and he thought they were eliminated already. I thought: This fucking idiot is entitled to that data analysis, and he has the right to publish it. What he should do is realize there's a 'cancel' option right next to the 'post' option.
Anyway, I buy into the principle of Enduring Hot Summer as opposed to Really Weird Spring ... mainly because, as once was pointed out, you play the long season in order to get to the short one. There is too much about baseball that's human, managed by men who are often barely old enough to buy whiskey.

John, You make some good points, which you always do, which is why I enjoy reading all of your posts. We all have our weaknesses and one of mine is patience even though I realize that all teams have to play 162 games.
