Tyler Mahle continues to build on his 2020 (3.59 ERA, 3.88 FIP, 4.59 xFIP, 11.3 K/9, 4.0 BB/9). So far:

1.74 ERA, 2.81 FIP, 3.05 xFIP, 13.5 K/9, 3.9 BB/9 in 20.2 IP. His walk rate is still high but he's getting a ton of K's.

As a Cardinals fan I said before the season started that I feared the Brewers more than any other team in the NL Central.

The Cardinals starting pitching rotation had a combined 6.24 ERA in their first 3 turns. In their 4th turn they had a combined ERA of 1.47.

Thanks and yes tonight did not go well for Burnes as far as runs allowing 5 so far. They should have pulled him an inning earlier but I guess he still has not had a walk and a bunch more strike outs. But runs are what loses games. The crew is down 5 - 0 late in the game. They are going against a good Miami pitcher

I think this NL Central will play out just like it usually does by going into the last week of the season to determine a winner.

Burnes is still the real deal even though he had a bad outing tonight.

The Pirates are obviously the surprise team in the NL Central so far as this division remains close from top to bottom. In fact, all divisions are close so far which is what makes baseball a great game.

In addition to this, Reyes has not blown a save yet but he is not a clean closer by allowing too much drama in the 9th recently.

After our pitching has started to show signs of coming together we are having issues all of a sudden with Waino going on the Covid DL because a family member tested positive and Miller going on the DL with a bad toe.

Concerning the Pirates, no matter how good or bad they seem to be they always seem to play us tough. I just hope we win the weekend series.
