That was the hype but most fan's wanted to see more. Even the Niners front loaded the deal so they can get out of it if he doesn't pan out. It's going to be a lot harder to get out of Rodgers deal if he can't say healthy for the rest of it.

This is what I expected from Garoppolo last year. He fooled us a little last year. He looked like shit today with the three picks

He had a few bad passes. But made a lot of good plays. The 49ers open the season on the road against the no one defense last year. I didn't expect the 49ers to win last year. We all knew Jimmy G would have a game like this at some point. He has only started eight games.

Agreed. All in all they acquitted themselves pretty well. They could have won the game without those critical mistakes. The best thing to me was how well Sherman played. I thought he might be done but he looked as good as ever. I was not expecting that.

Now if the 49ers offense falls flat against Detroit at home next week it might be time to get concerned.

Jimmy G has an excellent arm but makes poor decisions.

But its the same old thing; mistakes at critical times. They played them tough but can't have those mistakes you mentioned above.
The defense was impressive though; especially the DBs and the interior line. A nice surprise.

Other than bonehead Solomon Thomas they played very well.

Yep. We got some tough road games after this week. It wouldn't surprise me if we started 1 and 3

Some truth to the bargain bin supporting cast especially in regards to the LG and RG spots that is going to come back to bite this team in the @$$.

I agree this game went better than expected. Last year, the Vikings were 1 game away from the SB. The Niners were one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Kittle dropped 2 balls, that one deep one and another on 3rd down that killed a drive. Another drop by Pettis. Grop overthrowing the open man in the EZ. Morris fumble at the 1. Bourne running the wrong route that led to the pick-6. Zero outside pass rush. Geeze, the bone-headed Solomon Thomas penalty--is he the new Ahmad "I'm good for oneoff-sides per game" Brooks?

Despite all that, it was still a 1 score game late in the 4th quarter. That's a good sign for us. Honestly, I'm stunned that our defense played so well. Warner and Sherman and Buckner all had good games.

Warner's play makes you wonder if Malcolm Smith ever gets to start a game for us. If Warner has another game like this next week, then Foster comes back for week 3. ...the coaches just about can't bench Warner in favor of Smith.
