Not going to lie, Once Watkins was drafted, the "experts" talked about Stevie's status with the team n such...

While I never posted it, I actually said to myself, I wonder if the niners will ask about SJ and make a play for him?

But I wasn't necessarily for a move for him either... the trade, if done, looks fine to me....

I did hear them talk about it. Bills make no sense. Why not have to weapons like Johnson and Watkins.

Stevie u are coming home and playing for a championship. No more losing seasons for you buddy.

Not to mention giving the Browns what is looking like a potential 1st overall pick next year.

You think Lloyd over Baldwin? Does Baldwin not play on special teams?

EDIT: And remember the pick can become a 3rd.

You have a point regarding special teams. The 5th and potential 6th WR will need to contribute that way. I think Lloyd makes it if we keep 6 WR's, but then a special teams ace like Osgood doesn't make the team.

I'm hyperventilating right now. The thought of Boldin, Crabtree, VD, and Stevie Johnson all on the field at the same time gives me the chills.

The only problem now is Kaepernick. He can barely make a a one-read throw, much less 3 or 4.

now can we all relax a bit... Stevie Johnson is a big name coming for sure... maybe a breakout for the offense, pending on Roman, but lets relax and eat some chill...

I personally don't know if this puts us over the top... trade wise, its a good deal for us but is he good for our team? we'll see

I would rather have Stevie over the next 3 years then injured Lee anyway, a proven 1,000 yard WR over a rookie, a fucking steal

this actually puts a stop to WR draft picks.... now I fully expect a trade back into next yr.... for one or two picks...

Kaep is a stud, only his 3rd year as a starter, get a life

I'd have much rather had what's left of Hakeem Nicks' body (and maybe so would have the 49ers) and a couple guys available today but this isn't the worst move Baalke has made either. I probably would have passed had I been asked by anybody but I'm at the point with Baalke that if he doesn't just completely disappoint me that I get a sense of relief when a move is made. Scheme and idea wise I can see it somewhat.

Side note: I said before the draft and early on in his career that Steve Johnson (when hardly anybody was calling him Stevie) that he should be a 49er and that he was the best of the 3 Kentucky receiving threats (Burton, Tamme, Johnson) they had to take.

Another aspect that kind of makes me like this a little bit or maybe I should say that makes it comical to me is that Johnson will almost absolutely drive TobyTyler nuts and people will be getting more of the same from him on that front IMO. :)

This trade, much like our draft pick yesterday, covers two different potential problems that the Niners have moving forward.

Right now, he automatically makes our 3-WR sets extremely dangerous with his ability to play either in the slot or outside. But he also protects us in the event that Crab leaves as his contract is VERY workable and he is controlled over the next three years.
