Our first expansion protection trade. How fun.

Wish we had an ounce of cap room to get in on some of these

Happy Canada Day
Good trade for the Kings
Viktor has fallen off a little but Kings didn’t lose much, cap hit is good and term is short. I think Preds just didn’t want to lose him for nothing

Didn't watch much of the Nucks last year. Does Nate have anything left?

Seems like the Preds players are not happy about the trade. (Filip Forsberg gave it a thumbs down - I put that in the NHL General thread.)

Maybe they all should’ve played better after signing fat contracts so they wouldn’t have to re-tool despite having one of the league’s best blue lines year in year out.

He was fine.
His occasional blunders tended to be huge, and end up in the back of the net though.

Whose didn't tho?

I hope he gives one more year.. if by next deadline it's still the same then trade him..

There are rumblings that Nashville is going to expose both Johansen and Duchene to Seattle.

Not that Ronnie Franchise is that stupid...

Hawks Potential trade package: Forward Philipp Kurashev, defenseman Nicolas Beaudin, left-wing prospect Lukas Reichel, and a first-round pick in 2022
Avs Potential trade package : Center Tyson Jost, forward prospect Sampo Ranta, defensive prospect Justin Barron and a first-round pick in 2021
Kings Potential trade package: Center Adrian Kempe, center prospect Akil Thomas, defenseman Tobias Bjornfot and a first-round pick in 2022 (lottery protected).
Flyers Potential trade package: Defenseman Philippe Myers, forward prospect Zayde Wisdom, center prospect Morgan Frost and a first-round pick in 2022

I don't know how realistic or reliant on actual info these are, but I think that I like that Kings offer the best. But any would work.

I’m sorry, but that Kings trade package listed for Jones is laughable. Why would you pay that much for past returns? Hell, that’s about what Jack Eichel is worth to me.

There are some Jackets fans saying it's the worst unless they replace Thomas with Byfield...

Like I said, I don't know if it's based on any actual inside info or just one more "pundit" throwing shit at the wall. But I wouldn't be able to say yes fast enough to the Kings deal. Even if it was just Bjornfot and Thomas, I'd say yes. Adding Kempe AND a pick? Hell yeah. The Hawks deal is pretty nice too - my second favorite

I suspect the writer has an API on Cap Friendly pulling "one roster player, two prospects and a pick" from each team and he's adding his words and stuff for the 4 teams often rumored to be heavily in the hunt.

I dunno I'm pretty shitty at math but three of these teams have severe cap problems and none of the returns include significant cap hits while paying the kind of premium one would if the other team was taking money back.

That could go a long way toward getting Seth to sign long term. He is very close to his brother, and apparently the Jackets were trying to get Caleb last year when they were talking RNH.

But, in Edmonton media fashion:
Bob Stauffer mentioned Ryan Murray of Columbus as a possibility but said he wasn’t as good as Duncan Keith.

1) He played in New Jersey this year.
2) He is WAY better than Keith

Not surprised at all with the price and him staying with the Wild.
