He was detained for 10+- minutes and released. His version of the events are at odds with the facts in a big way.

There is a thread on here somewhere with some good info.......... brb

Okay, so something did happen in LV, but some people feel he's stretching the truth regarding how he was handled. I would expect the LVPD to deny it, and then you have Bennett's word vs the LVPD essentially.

I had seen that thread and link already. Reportedly there is some video out there, but I haven't seen that.

I would say 50/50 whether it happened like Bennett said...i.e. I don't put a whole lot of stock into it, but if the experience has him seeking the front line of attention for being an activists...run with it if you so choose, but I would suggest playing football right now and 5 yrs down the road if that's something you want to pursue...more power to you.

It all depends on if they can make special jerseys and knick-knacks and shit for it, sell it on their website promising a portion for the proceeds go to charity, then pocketing 92% of the profit. If the NFL can do that, we will get our "social activism" month.

NFL players want month dedicated to activism

A group of four players sent the NFL a memo in August requesting league support and asking for a month to be dedicated to social activism, not long after commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly had talked to several players regarding their game-day activist efforts.

According to Yahoo! Sports, defensive end Michael Bennett of the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and receiver Torrey Smith, and former Arizona Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin co-authored a 2,740-word document intended to push the NFL to honor activism in an effort "similarly to what the league already implements for breast cancer awareness, honoring military, etc."

The letter was obtained by Yahoo! Sports and originally published on Wednesday night.

"We would like November to serve as a month of Unity for individual teams to engage and impact the community in their market," the memo states.

The letter was prepared shortly after Goodell spoke with several players who had protested on game day before the regular season kicked off, the Yahoo! report stated, citing two sources.

"For us, support means: bear all or part of the weight of; hold up; give assistance to, especially financially; enable to function or act. We need support, collaboration and partnerships to achieve our goal of strengthening the community," the letter stated.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy issued a statement on Goodell's visit to Philadelphia, where he and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie accepted an invitation by Jenkins to take a closer look at the city's justice system.

"Commissioner Goodell has been talking with players for some time about social justice issues and how to recognize the progress and the important work of our players in their communities across the country," McCarthy said in the statement.

People already have enough fatigue as it is with "social activism" and it'll just backfire on them if they implement it. I mean every time a celebrity opens their mouth now it's "Trump this" "Trump that" "Oppression" blah blah blah and whether you agree with it or not you don't want it in your face 24/7. You want to watch sports and TV to escape and relax not be constantly preached to about how messed up the world is.

And the other problem is how well informed are these athletes on the subjects they are trying to be activists for? I'm sure some of these guys are but most of these guys only made it through school because someone took their tests for them so they can focus on football and partying. Have you heard some of these guys say their names and college when they play in primetime games? Some of them sound like they needed a teleprompter with their name and school on it to be able to do it.

I would say fine.

The first topics that the league will push is:

Black on black crime needs to stop.

Avoiding gang membership.

Helping single mothers.

Fighting the drug problem in urban areas.

High school dropout.

All significant problems that seem to have taken a backseat.

I think they also should concentrate on ending racist government policies like affirmative action and diversity quotas.

But instead they'll concentrate on "over policing" in high crime areas, because when there is a lot of violent crime the best thing to do is have less cops or even better unarmed ones. Then they'll tackle the myth of mass incarceration.

And then we can talk about the racist school systems even though the teachers union is an arm of the democratic party that they all vote for.

Hey, how about a month dedicated to ending domestic violence? God knows the NFL players seem to have a lot of experience with that.

These players are focusing on police and policing tactics they don't agree with.

Maybe they should focus on bigger problems like illiteracy in urban areas and unemployment.

It's fine if they have a cause but it appears their cause is either trendy to the black community or self-interested.
